[For Adults] Fun recreational games. Perfect for short breaks too!

Introducing fun games and recreational activities for adults!

When adults play, games that involve analysis and brainpower, or activities that offer a bit of excitement, really bring up the energy.

So this time, we’ve gathered card games and board games that adults can enjoy, along with no-equipment games and recreational activities.

They’re great for coworkers and friends, and families can enjoy them too—especially if you have middle or high schoolers.

Simple games are perfect for filling small pockets of time, so take this opportunity to give them a try!

[For Adults] Fun Recreation Games. Great for Spare Moments! (81–90)

konjac

[Nursery/Kindergarten] August–September Birthday Party Event (2022): “What’s in the Box?”
konjac

One of the fun aspects of the “what’s-in-the-box” game is seeing how people react when they put their hand in and touch the object.

With that in mind, how about choosing konnyaku, which has a uniquely odd texture, to elicit those reactions? Depending on the type, konnyaku generally feels slippery, so you might get some squeamish responses.

Its springiness can even make people mistake it for a living creature, so it seems important to decide at what point to let them know it’s actually food.

balloon volleyball

JTL Asobi-ba!: Easy At-Home Exercise Play [Balloon Volleyball]
balloon volleyball

Balloon Volleyball is an easy and safe game that even people who aren’t good at sports can enjoy.

It’s basically volleyball played with a balloon instead of a ball.

You don’t have to follow strict volleyball rules to have fun, but if you want to play by clear rules, here are some examples: for instance, everyone on the team must touch the balloon at least once before sending it back to the opponent’s court, and while the balloon is on your side, each person may touch it up to two times.

Because a balloon floats lightly and moves unpredictably compared to a regular ball, it’s surprisingly tricky—but that’s exactly what makes it so fun!

scrubbing brush

[Childcare] An active nursery teacher tried a “What’s in the box?” guessing game!
scrubbing brush

A tawashi scrubbing brush is a strong ally in the kitchen for scouring off grime, starting with burnt-on residue from frying pans.

Most people have probably touched one or at least seen one.

But when you touch a tawashi without seeing it, you might be startled by its hard, prickly feel.

The person putting their hand in will feel a little thrill, and onlookers will get a kick out of watching them gingerly touch the brush.

They come in a wide variety of shapes—round, long, and more—and their easy availability is another appealing point.

No Voiced-Sound Game

The no-dakuten game is way harder than I imagined lololol
No Voiced-Sound Game

Voiced sounds refer to “muddy” sounds like da and ji.

For example, daijoubu and gomen are words that contain voiced sounds.

This game is about having a conversation while banning these voiced sounds.

When you talk, choose a topic and discuss it.

Saying you won’t talk is not allowed.

Remove the voiced sounds and keep the conversation going.

If you answer reflexively, you’ll end up speaking as usual, so be careful.

Announcing that there will be a penalty game for each voiced sound used will make it more thrilling!

athletics

This co-op-only obstacle course is insanely hard... Someone help me!!
athletics

When you hear “athletic playgrounds,” you probably picture kids running around excitedly at a campground.

But if you look, you’ll find surprisingly challenging versions designed for adults! At this level, even people with a sports background might struggle to get through smoothly, but the sense of accomplishment at the end is huge.

I think even adults can get totally hooked.

beach ball volleyball

Beach Ball – 2017/02/26 Green Cup
beach ball volleyball

Beach volleyball doesn’t have the blistering speed of regular volleyball, but it isn’t as leisurely as balloon volleyball either.

It takes a bit of technique to rally well, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a lot of fun.

It can get pretty intense even if you’re not on the beach.

four-wheeled buggy

four-wheeled buggy

You sometimes see those four-wheel buggies tearing through sand and off-road terrain on TV, right? I don’t think many people actually own one, but it seems like it would be fun to ride.

If you go a bit outside the city, there are dedicated courses where you can rent one.

Even in the hot summer, if you zip around on one, you can feel the breeze and it seems like it would feel great.
