Group boat race
@hiyoko_sakuranbo You can start tomorrow! Group rhythm “Boat Race” “Solo boat” and “Two-person boat” are fun, but doing it as a group of 7 or 8 is even more fun! If you include it at the end of a requested staff training, the teachers’ smiles burst forth, and you can finish the session in a joyful atmosphere. It’s the same with children. If you end with a rhythm activity everyone can enjoy together, you’re sure to see the biggest smiles. ✨ Give it a try in tomorrow’s childcare! **************** “Saito Kimiko’s Cherry Rhythm Play” is a scientifically grounded method that promotes children’s development through play. Perfect for class recreation or grade-level activities! Here are ideas for a group boat race.
You know how rowing is an Olympic sport, right? This time, we’re sharing ideas for a boat race played in groups.
In the video, teams of seven sit in a row and inch forward toward the goal by pushing with their heels.
It’s not just the person in front who does the work—when everyone on the team synchronizes their timing, you can make big progress! It’s also a good idea to use a chant like “1, 2, 1, 2” or “Ready, go!”
Shuttle Carry Relay

Here’s a shuttle-carry relay that kids and adults alike can enjoy.
Split into teams, place a badminton shuttlecock on top of a racket, and ready, set, go! Keep the racket level so the shuttle doesn’t fall, loop around a cone, and come back.
Hand the racket and shuttle directly to the next person, and the team that gets everyone across the finish line first wins.
If you drop the shuttle, restart from where it fell—so staying careful yet fast is the key to victory.
The rules are simple and easy to understand, so give it a try!
Hula hoop relay

A “hula hoop relay” is a relay race done in pairs.
Unlike a regular relay, two people step inside a single hula hoop and run together.
It’s similar to a three-legged race.
You’ll need items like a hula hoop and triangular cones to mark the turnaround point.
It’s more exciting as a team competition, so start by dividing everyone into teams.
Once teams are set, line up in two rows and get ready.
Pairs take turns stepping into the hula hoop together, running, and passing the relay on.
The team that finishes first wins.

obstacle course

If you’re looking for a game that lets you make the most of what’s in the gym and have a blast, this is a must-see! Introducing an obstacle race.
The rules are super simple: start at the signal “Ready, go!” and make your way to the finish line by overcoming various obstacles set up along the course.
The team whose members all finish first wins.
Gyms usually have plenty of items that can be used as obstacles—vaulting boxes, mats, balance beams, hula hoops, tunnels, hurdles, and more—so try creating courses with different combinations and have fun playing!
Dice Cone Relay

Dice Cone Relay is a relay race where the number rolled on a die determines your progress.
Prepare one die per team and six traffic cones.
Line up the six cones at equal intervals along a bamboo pole (or straight line), and you’re ready.
First, divide into teams—having at least two teams makes it more exciting.
Then have everyone line up single file at the cones.
Starting from the first person, roll the die and run around the cone that matches the number rolled.
For example, if you roll a 1, go around one cone; if you roll a 6, go around six cones.
Repeat this for each teammate, and the team that finishes first wins.
It’s a game where not only speed but also luck plays a key role.
Heaven, large, medium, small

A square court is divided into four sections ranked from highest to lowest: Ten (Heaven), Dai (Big), Chū (Medium), and Shō (Small).
Players stand inside their squares and hit the ball with one or both hands into another player’s square.
If the ball goes out of bounds, bounces within your own square, or hits a boundary line, it’s out and you get demoted to a lower square.
The winner is the person who stays in the Ten square the longest.
Indoor beanbag toss

Indoor tamaire lets you enjoy this classic sports day event right in the gym! Having a “basket” kid wear an umbrella or a cardboard box on their head sounds fun to watch.
Using light balls or beanbags keeps things safe, and if you set a time limit and make it a team competition, everyone can cooperate and get excited together.
It might be perfect for school events or community gatherings.
Since it isn’t affected by the weather and can be enjoyed by both kids and adults, it’s truly a staple of gym play! Give indoor tamaire a try and have a blast full of energy.
