Of course, flat illustrations can also brighten up the event, but making it three-dimensional helps create a more pumpkin-like form, so it’s highly recommended.

If you want to try a decoration unlike anything you’ve seen elsewhere, we recommend making a witch’s broom.

Even though it’s a witch’s broom, it’s a miniature, so it’s easy to make.

First, prepare paper cord cut into pieces about 5 cm long.

Bundle them together and fasten them to a bamboo skewer with a rubber band.

Then just snip off the tip of the skewer and you’re done.

It looks cute as a decoration, but you could also leave the tip uncut and stick it into food.

By the way, if you roughly trim the ends of the paper cord, it gives it even more of a witchy feel.

When we do decorations and crafts, we often use construction paper.

And we usually throw away the scraps as trash, right? But those scraps actually have a surprising use! You can use them to make Halloween ghosts.

First, prepare a balloon and attach crumpled pieces of construction paper all over it.

Then cut out facial features from construction paper and stick those on as well.

Finally, pop the balloon and remove it—your ghost is complete.

Since the inside is hollow, you can fill it with candy or light it up like a lantern, so there are plenty of ways to use it.

Ghost garland

Ghost garland

Ghosts, an essential Halloween motif, are often associated with floating in midair.

That floating-from-the-ground image pairs well with garlands, which are hanging decorations.

By shaping thin paper with sticks or clips to form the ghost’s outline and then attaching a surface layer of paper, you can create a three-dimensional ghost.

Because this structure leaves an empty space in the center, you can use that space to attach a string; you could also add beads so that it makes a sound when it sways, among other possible variations.

When it comes to Halloween, ghosts are an essential motif.

You probably imagine a scene with ghosts drifting in the air.

This is a simple decoration: cut paper into ghost shapes and hang them up.

It’s important that the tail part has a spiral-like design, and attaching a weight to the tip of the tail when you hang it will emphasize the feeling that the ghost is floating.

You’re free to choose the facial expressions, so aim for something full of originality!

Bats flitting eerily across the night sky… aren’t they an essential motif for Halloween? Let’s make one using a toilet paper roll.

Cover the roll with black origami paper, then fold in the ends to form ears.

After that, attach wings and add eyes, and your bat is complete.

The finished piece is three-dimensional, so just hanging it up makes for a festive decoration.

If you get creative with the expression of the eyes you attach, you can make an even cuter-looking bat.

Pumpkins are an essential motif for Halloween.

Even without a face design, they immediately evoke the Halloween vibe.

How about making a garland or hanging ornament featuring pumpkins? You can create a sense of dimension by layering and gluing egg-shaped pieces of felt.

Attach a stem, flowers, and leaves to finish the pumpkin, then line them up and glue them onto yarn.

Using felt also gives it a soft, cozy look, which is a nice touch.
