BUNTA, the drummer for TOTALFAT—a punk hero active in the melodic scene—is one of the most disciplined drummers in the Japanese rock world when it comes to pursuing the craft of drumming.

Believing that physical conditioning is essential for drumming, he trains daily with weight work and running, and he never skips complex rudimental practice on a practice pad.

His performances are striking: laying down two-beat grooves at over 200 BPM, delivering fills with impeccable hand–foot combinations, and even spinning sticks during breaks.

He also has a deep understanding of jazz, and his meticulous stick control is not to be missed.

In a way, he might be the most famous drummer of all.

After all, he’s a drummer who doesn’t actually play the drums.

Despite what he does on stage, he’s apparently quite serious by nature and really practices the drums properly.

His banter is hilarious, too, and he has a truly intriguing charm.
