Ikoka Honai from Gesu no Kiwami Otome, who shot to fame as the “super cute drummer,” has a deliberately silly stage name derived from her real name, Honami.

Apparently, she’s not very fond of it herself.

She also works as an actress and is represented by Oscar Promotion, the same agency as Aya Ueto and Emi Takei.

Raised in a musical family and familiar with drums since the age of four, Marina joined the Japanese girls’ metal band Aldious in 2015, drawing attention with her technical and powerful drumming.

Formed in 2010, Aldious has focused on melodic heavy metal and released multiple albums and singles, achieving commercial success, including being selected for iTunes Best of 2016.

Marina’s skill and expressiveness were indispensable to the band’s live performances.

Unfortunately, she left the group in 2023 due to a recurrence of ulcerative colitis, but her contributions will remain in the memories of many fans.

On Kanjani Eight’s show, there was a segment called “Taiko no Tatsujin,” where they faced off against various drummers, and in the end it was Akamatsu who defeated Okura.

He isn’t a particularly flashy player, but his steady, unwavering performance is truly impressive.

Nakajima Nobu, known as the drummer for Ningen Isu—a band that represents Japan’s hard rock scene—joined the group in 2004 and took part in recording the album “San Akudōchū Hiza Kurige.” Blending 1970s-style hard rock influenced by Black Sabbath with uniquely eerie themes, the band has earned popularity for its distinctive sound.

It’s said that Nakajima’s addition significantly enhanced the band’s groove, and his singular sense of rhythm has captivated many fans.

Beyond Ningen Isu, he’s a versatile musician active in multiple bands, including Hana Fubuki and The Yūtarō Band, and his energetic schedule—playing live several times a month—has drawn attention.

He’s a drummer well worth checking out not only for fans of hard rock and metal, but also for anyone interested in distinctive Japanese-language rock.
