“Family Day” Photo Frame

[Kindergarten/Preschool] Father’s Day gift in June! Making a photo frame
“Family Day” Photo Frame

In May and June, we have Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, which bring more opportunities to show appreciation to parents.

How about making a photo frame as a heartfelt gift to express your gratitude? One method is to cut out the photo area from a milk carton, cover it with construction paper, and color it.

There are many other ways too, such as using origami paper, toilet paper rolls, or yarn.

Feel free to adapt the method to suit your child’s age.

For the photo, consider using one taken with the parent or one that shows the child’s growth.

pen holder

How about a pen holder as a practical gift? Pen holders made from toilet paper rolls are great because they make it easy to use children’s artwork.

First, have the kids create several sheets of drawing paper using different techniques such as spattering and marbling.

Next, wrap the paper around the toilet paper rolls.

Make a few and vary the heights to create a more functional pen holder.

Attach them to a cardstock base with glue, and it’s done! You’ll have a lovely piece that brings back memories of the children’s smiles whenever the pens are used.

How about making a bouquet using tissue paper, which is thinner and softer than origami paper? Create a base with a circle of thick paper and a slightly smaller patterned paper in a matching color.

Put double-sided tape on it, then stick on crumpled tissue paper pieces.

Attach a green chenille stem for the stalk, fold both sides of the base inward, and you’ve got a lovely bouquet! One of the charms of tissue paper is that it unintentionally forms flowers in all sorts of shapes.

For Mother’s Day, give a one-of-a-kind bouquet.

Flower pocket

Something infants can make! Here’s an idea for a flower pocket.

In addition to a cute flower design, it includes a pocket made from a paper plate.

Try slipping in a letter, message card, or photo and giving it as a gift to parents.

You’ll need construction paper, round stickers, patterned origami paper, ribbon, tissue paper for flowers, a paper plate, and paint.

After cutting the construction paper into a flower shape, add patterns with finger stamping.

Children in preschool classes can also paint with brushes in any colors they like.

It’s sure to become a gift that shows each child’s individuality.

Let’s use photos of the kids to make adorable good-luck charms! Here’s an idea for a “Kaeru” (frog/return) charm.

Put your wish into it: that your loved ones return home safely from work or outings.

Create a unique, cute charm with a frog motif.

Dye paper using calligraphy paper or washi and watercolor paint diluted with water.

You can drop the paint with a pipette, or dip the paper into cups of paint to let it soak in.

Once it’s completely dry, cut it into frog shapes and paste the children’s photos on.

Adding the playful message “Buji Kaeru” (a pun meaning “return safely”) is cute too! After laminating, attach a ribbon and give it as a gift.
