The uniquely shaped caterpillar is a popular insect among children and even appears as the main character in picture books.
Let’s make a caterpillar using an egg carton.
Cut the egg carton lengthwise in half, trim the edges, and round them off.
Tear about three kinds of origami paper by hand and use wood glue to stick the pieces onto the egg carton.
Once they’re attached, add pipe cleaners for the antennae and glue on eyes to finish.

Use two circles cut from cardboard for the finger pads, connect them with a toothpick to form the axle, and attach the spinning flower piece between them, leaving a slight gap as you assemble the axle.

When it comes to summery drinks, cream soda is a classic! So let’s make a cream soda-themed trinket holder.
This idea uses a flower vase sold at 100-yen shops.
It’s shaped like a rectangle topped with a half-circle, and it already looks like cream soda, doesn’t it? Apply green iridescent origami paper to the rectangular part and white masking tape to the half-circle to represent the drink and the ice cream.
Glue a cherry made from a pom-pom and a craft pipe cleaner to the outside, then insert a straw.
Add iridescent round stickers to mimic bubbles for an even cuter finish.

Let’s make a rice mascot that conveys warmth by making the most of yarn’s soft look.
The steps are to bundle yarn wound around a fork and then cut it; the key is shaping it so it ends up looking like rice.
Place it in a bowl or lunchbox-style container you made separately, and aim for an even more appetizing look with additional decorations.
Plain white rice can look too simple, so try mixing in other colors as you wind the yarn, or add side dishes you’ve crafted separately—both are great options.

If you’re looking for an easy, summery craft, I recommend making an aroma fragrance jar! Prepare a jar, gel ice packs, blue food coloring, essential oils, and decorations like marbles or seashells.
First, fill the jar about one-third full with the gel from the ice packs and add the food coloring to tint it.
Once the color is set, add more gel and a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
Finally, add the decorations and put the lid on—you’re done! Using blue food coloring with marbles or seashells makes it look like you’ve captured the sea inside the jar.
