List of Local Festivals Nationwide [2026]

DEJIMA Expo is a Golden Week event held annually by Nagasaki International Television to promote regional exchange and regional revitalization, and in 2016 it was certified as the first project of the Nagasaki City Revitalization Project. The venue is Water and Greenery Park facing Nagasaki Port, where visitors can enjoy sea breezes as a variety of stages and vendor booths spread out. In addition to live music, its hallmark is a lineup that people of all ages can enjoy, including a gourmet festival and activities for children. It will be held in May 2026.

The Hateruma Island Music Festival is a remote-island fest that began in 1997, launched by singer and island native Isamu Kajiiku and volunteers from the local alumni association to revitalize the island. The venue is an open-air stage on Hateruma Island, which floats north of Iriomote Island and has only a few dozen residents, offering a stunning location overlooking an emerald-green sea. With the theme “Let it reach you! Big energy from a small island,” island songs, sanshin, and pop music resound as locals and visitors come together in rhythm and applause. It will be held in May 2026 during the Golden Week holiday.

This is the third Village Festival, held in the beautiful rural area of Hido, Iga City. It began when the opening dates of three village establishments—“Scoop,” “Fuurinya-shiki Kazekoro,” and “Cafe & Bar ChouChou”—happened to coincide on May 1, and it developed into an event celebrating each shop’s anniversary. With the theme “Enjoy Japan’s original landscapes and create Japan’s future,” the festival offers thanks to the village’s guardian deity, Hachidai Ryuo, and features a diverse program including a lion dance, a wind chime concert, belly dancing, and a performance by the erhu duo Onto. It will be held in May 2026.

Maintopia Fest is an event where you can enjoy music and gourmet food, held on a special stage set up on the lawn at the tourist facility “Maintopia Besshi” in Niihama City, Ehime Prefecture. In addition to a wide variety of stage acts such as dance and live performances, there will be shops offering BBQ, takoyaki, pita sandwiches, and banana juice. The lineup mainly features local acts, including Iyokan Band, Hanami Manabe, and FAKE. The event will take place on April 29, 2026. Admission is a flat 1,000 yen for both advance and same-day tickets, and preschool children enter free.

At a music festival hosted by the outdoor tenugui brand CHAORAS, the theme is “Bringing tenugui culture to music festivals.” The venue is the Hattori Ryokuchi Open-Air Concert Hall in Toyonaka, Osaka—an outdoor space surrounded by greenery. Derailleur Brew Works, known for producing the Saka-no-Ue Music Festival, is sponsoring the event, with a diverse lineup including SPECIAL OTHERS, OYAT (Omoide-Yaro A Team), and Kuchiroro (□□□). Pets are welcome, and admission is free for junior high school students and younger, making it a day open to a wide audience. Scheduled for April 2026.
