Tateyama Park Cherry Blossom FestivalApr 18 (Sat) – 19 (Sun), Yamagata Prefecture
This is the 39th annual Cherry Blossom Festival, a spring tradition in Shonai Town. The venue, Tateyama Park, is located on a hill with a panoramic view of the Shonai Plain and is beloved as a famous cherry blossom spot where about 200 Somei Yoshino trees bloom in full glory. Food stalls and kitchen cars line up offering local specialties such as grilled herring and grilled Shonai pork, and stage events include the Tatekawa Elementary School brass band, the Shonai karaoke contest, and the Amarume Hiryū Taiko drum performance. In April 2026, you can also enjoy night cherry blossoms illuminated by paper lanterns.

Earth Day TokyoTokyo, Sat 4/18–Sun 4/19
This festival is the Tokyo edition of Earth Day, the global environmental movement that began in the United States in 1970, and has been held in Yoyogi Park since 2001. In 2026, its 25th anniversary, it will be billed as the “Spring Earth Culture Festival,” bringing together around 300 booths plus 50 student group booths at the Yoyogi Park Event Plaza and Keyaki Namiki promenade. The stage will feature Earth Day concerts and talk sessions by artists including Tokiko Kato and Haru Nemuri. Held in April, admission is free.

ALA Open AirChiba Prefecture, Sat. 4/18–Sun. 4/19
ALA Open Air is an outdoor techno festival launched by DJ/Composer NUTMEG. About 90 minutes from central Tokyo, it takes place for roughly 20 hours in a mountain-surrounded location in Mutsuzawa, Chosei District, Chiba, centered on deep, trancy techno. The indoor area will feature ambient and spatial sounds throughout the night, with artists such as DJ MIKU and DJ Yogurt performing. Scheduled for April 2026.
