[Grown-up Cute] Easy Handmade Ideas for Miscellaneous Goods and Interior Accessories (21–30)
aroma stone

Aroma stones that let you enjoy fragrance without using fire can actually be handmade with plaster from a 100-yen shop.
Just mix plaster with water, pour it into a mold, and wait for it to harden—it’s a great DIY idea for beginners.
There are many types of molds available, so try finding a shape you like.
Plaster is basically white, but if that’s too simple, you can color it by mixing in some paint.
When adding the water, dissolve a little paint and mix it in.
Miniature house

Recommended for anyone who wants to add cute accessories to their room’s interior! Here are some miniature house ideas.
These are made with unglazed-style clay sold at 100-yen shops.
The basic method is to shape the clay into a house, then use tools to create the roof, windows, and door.
After drying for 2–3 days, paint it and attach it to a base to finish.
It costs very little and lets you create decor in your favorite style, so if you enjoy clay crafts, why not give it a try?
Shaker keychain

Handmade resin keychain with a shakeable interior! Pour colored resin into a mold in the shape of your choice to create the keychain frame.
Place beads and other shaker contents inside the frame, then apply resin to the frame and attach a piece of laminated film cut to the frame’s shape.
Next, arrange any exterior decorations you like and repeatedly layer and cure resin over them.
Finally, attach the chain and you’re done.
It’s a perfect idea for those interested in resin or already comfortable working with it.
plant hanger

Let me introduce a plant hanger made by braiding jute twine.
Try handmaking this interior accessory that lets you hang a small plant you already have.
All you need is jute twine—nothing else.
You can easily get it at a 100-yen shop, so you can start right away.
The braiding may look tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to keep going smoothly.
The texture of jute is very natural.
Using jute-twine decor creates a comfortable and stylish space.
Make it long, or keep it short and hang it—either way works.
Use a jute plant hanger to beautifully display your greenery and make your plants look even more attractive.
pocket watch-style accessory

You can easily handcraft stylish pocket watch–style accessories with resin! All you need are a pocket watch frame and a clock-face mold (both available at 100-yen shops), resin, pigment, and decorations to place inside.
Pour clear resin into the mold, cure it, remove it, and use paint to color the grooves.
Laminate a patterned sheet that will show through from the back of the pocket watch, attach it to the frame, add your decorations, and seal it with the clock-face piece.
Once you coat the whole thing, your pocket watch–style component is complete.
You can thread a chain to make a necklace, add findings to turn it into a keychain—there are lots of ways to use it.
Texture art

Texture art refers to works that add tactile quality to color.
You might think, “Isn’t that hard for beginners?” but it’s surprisingly easy: just mix acrylic paint with a medium—a specialized art material—and layer it on.
Once you have a canvas suitable for acrylics, simply apply layers of the acrylic-and-medium mixture using a painting knife like those used for oil painting.
The key to a stylish finish is blending several colors to create a subdued palette.
Trust your intuition and give it a try!
A ring made with jump rings and resin

Let’s make a perfectly sized ring using resin and jump rings, which pair well with a variety of handmade items like small goods, accessories, and other crafts! First, use pliers to close the gap in the jump ring so it forms a complete loop.
Next, wrap a small piece of cut clear file around your finger to create a ring-shaped mold, then wrap masking tape around it and line up and attach the jump rings.
Once you’ve arranged them in a ring, repeat the process of filling the inside of each jump ring with resin and decorative elements and curing them.
Finally, remove it from the mold, and you’re done!
