[For Seniors] Who Am I? Quiz. A Fun Set of Questions with Hints (11–20)
Challenging brain training: Who am I? Quiz

This is a “Who am I?” quiz where you deduce the answer from three clues: “I was born in Japan,” “You pour hot water into a cup to eat me,” and “You can enjoy noodles in various flavors.” The quizzes here all have answers that are familiar to older adults, so they may be easier to answer.
A tip for giving clues is to start with ones that are hard to narrow down and gradually make them clearer.
Aim for hints that let the answer come into view little by little as you think.
How about incorporating this as a recreational brain-training activity for seniors?
Zoo Edition

How about choosing animals you don’t often get to interact with—like those in zoos or in the wild—instead of the ones close to us in everyday life? Squirrels, for example, are cute small animals that often appear in picture books, but there’s actually a lot we don’t know about them, right? If a question is a bit difficult, try adding a hint.
Even animals you think you know well can reveal unfamiliar sides, turning it into an educational quiz.
Using animals with hard-to-read kanji and asking the kanji as questions could also be a good idea.
Fairy Tale Guessing Quiz

How about doing a quiz based on old folktales—something that might bring back memories like reading to your children or reading books to your grandchildren? For example, if you hear “drifted down the river,” “defeating ogres,” and “three companions,” you’d think of… Momotaro, right? Folktales often have similar plots or openings, so they can be a bit confusing.
If you include hints along with each question, it will be easier to understand and answer.
After the answer is revealed, you could also talk a bit about the story itself.
Kayōkyoku Edition

This quiz is perfect brain training for recalling the titles of pop songs.
You might remember the lyrics but not the title—happens all the time.
Let’s jog your memory and feel that satisfaction when it clicks! Try asking questions with clear hints, like parts of the lyrics, the singer’s name, the era when the song was popular, or which movie it was the theme song for.
Once you get the answer, playing the track could really amp up the fun! Some people might even burst into song the moment they figure it out.
Aquarium Edition

There are many waterside creatures around the world, including ones you can only see at aquariums.
This is a quiz where we focus on the theme of waterside creatures and aquariums, and you guess the answer from the hints provided.
Each hint is short and simple, but having the broad theme of “aquarium” narrows down the possibilities and makes it easier to arrive at the answer.
If you still can’t figure it out, we can add more hints—such as specific details about their ecology or whether they’re edible.
Dish guessing quiz

Meals are an essential part of everyday life, and most of us have encountered many dishes over the years.
This quiz not only tests how many dishes you know, but also your understanding of how they’re made.
The hints are photos of ingredients; as you recall what each ingredient is, you’ll predict the dish created by combining them.
If ingredient hints alone feel too difficult, it’s also helpful to include hints about cooking methods—how the ingredients are used—as part of the clues.

Food & Animals Edition

If the answers are familiar foods or animals, you can probably reach the answer with fewer and simpler clues.
One fun aspect of “Who is it?”-style quizzes is narrowing down from a broad range to the answer, so for foods, it’s recommended to start with broad hints like color or shape, and for animals, size or habitat.
It also seems fun to include hints that few people know—like the history or trivia of the food or animal—and then, after revealing the answer, look back at those hints.
