From the opera ‘Pagliacci’Ruggero Leoncavallo

This is the music Tatsuya Tsuboi used for his free skate when he placed third at the 2024 Japan Figure Skating Championships.
It’s an excerpt from the opera Pagliacci composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo, and the performance stands out for its progression through contrasting sections: a weighty, powerful part, a fast-paced section filled with quick notes, and a distinctly operatic segment featuring soaring vocals.
This piece is also known for having been used in the past by Daisuke Takahashi.
Hip Hip Chin ChinClub des Belugas

The piece used in figure skater Keiji Tanaka’s program was “Hip Hip Chin Chin” by Club des Belugas, an electro club jazz group.
“Chin chin” is the call you make when clinking glasses for a toast.
It’s a dance track meant to get everyone in high spirits.
Riding the song’s lively rhythm, Tanaka nailed a cool triple Axel right off the bat.
Grande amoreIl Volo

The Italian vocal group Il Volo’s famous song “Grande Amore.” Il Volo is a trio chosen through auditions as successors to the great opera singers The Three Tenors, and they’re known for their dynamic, opera-inspired vocals.
This song is one of their signature pieces and became a big hit, especially across Europe.
Many figure skating fans may recognize it, as Yuzuru Hanyu used it in his programs.
Highly recommended for those who love dramatic love songs.

“Masquerade,” meaning a masked ball, is a song with a cool yet mysterious vibe.
It also drew attention for being used as the ending theme for TV Tokyo’s Drama 25 series MASK MEN.
OnmyojiBairin Shigeru

Yuzuru Hanyu won back-to-back gold medals at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
For his free skating program titled “SEIMEI” during the 2015–2016 season, he used music from Onmyoji.
Composed by Shigeru Umebayashi, it features a grand sound built around traditional Japanese instruments such as flutes and drums, themed on “Wa” (Japanese aesthetic).
The piece perfectly suits his elegant performance on the ice, and it’s a composition that enhances figure skating with its brilliance while at times showcasing dynamic elements.
International Angel of Peace

The music used for Rika Kihira’s free program in the 2019–2020 season.
It is a piece created by Tom Dickson, who edited seven tracks and gave the work its title.
In this program, a wide variety of music is used to express the grand theme of peace.
Instruments and melodies symbolizing different countries are incorporated, creating an exotic yet mysteriously unified atmosphere in a single piece.
Art On IceEdvin Marton

This is the piece Yuzuru Hanyu used to take first place with a post–rule change record score at the 2018 GP3 Finland event.
The song, titled “Art On Ice,” was composed by Hungarian violinist and composer Edvin Marton.
