HigherRihanna

In figure skating, classical and other traditional music is often used because it pairs well with the sport, but pop music is no exception.
Rihanna’s “Higher” is crafted with a classic sound reminiscent of 1960s soul music and is built throughout on an intensely passionate melody.
The combination of vocals so passionate they could melt the ice and the beautiful dance of figure skating is a perfect match.
Dancing On My OwnCalum Scott

The piece used by Shoma Uno for his free program in the 2019–2020 season.
The original is a pop-style song sung by Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn, which Calum Scott rearranged into a poignant ballad and performed.
As a heartbreak song, his wistful, clear voice makes it a moving track that resonates deeply.
La BohemeCharles Aznavour

The music used by Nathan Chen for his short program in the 2019–2020 season was La Bohème, the most iconic song by Charles Aznavour, a French singer-songwriter and actor.
The song portrays a sorrowful love story, reminiscing about a once-happy time that no longer exists.
It has a mature, passionate atmosphere.
Off To The RacesLana Del Rey

When people think of figure skating, many imagine elegant and gentle music.
However, “Off to the Races” subverts that image with a stylish, dark melody.
The singer is Lana Del Rey, who excels at songs with a moody, dark atmosphere, such as baroque pop and sadcore.
Although the track is dark and subdued, its powerful structure makes it an excellent match for ice dance and figure skating.

Drawing on the workout vibe suggested by the title “Pump It Up,” the choreography weaves in training-themed movements, resulting in a performance that’s both comical and powerful.
As a show program, it really conveys the fun in sync with the music.
Next to MeOtto Knows

It’s “Next To Me,” a work by Swedish music producer Otto Knows.
In this program, Nathan Chen showcases his signature high jumps and intense dancing.
With his expressive ability, he can deliver a wonderful performance even to a piece like this.
Piano Concerto No. 2Sergei Rachmaninov

For many people, this is “the” piece associated with Mao Asada.
It was the music she used at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Her powerful free skate moved audiences around the world beyond mere rankings.
Among Rachmaninoff’s four piano concertos, it is one of the most popular masterpieces.
In addition to its accessible melodic beauty, its virtuosic, brilliant chords and arpeggios make it an exceptionally captivating work.
