La bohèmeCharles Aznavour

La Bohème, also known for being used by Nathan Chen—who has shone at World Championships and the Olympics—is a song created by French singer-songwriter Charles Aznavour.
Its melody, imbued with a sense of poignancy and loneliness, resonates deeply alongside the strings.
The symphonic sound is also captivating, perfectly suited to the pure white stage of figure skating.
The nostalgic lyrics, depicting the days of youth, are exquisitely conveyed by his voice—he was both a chanson singer and an actor.
It is a piece you’ll want to listen to while feeling its beauty and transience.
International Angel of Peace

The music used for Rika Kihira’s free program in the 2019–2020 season.
It is a piece created by Tom Dickson, who edited seven tracks and gave the work its title.
In this program, a wide variety of music is used to express the grand theme of peace.
Instruments and melodies symbolizing different countries are incorporated, creating an exotic yet mysteriously unified atmosphere in a single piece.
Liebesträume No. 3Franz Liszt

Liebesträume No.
3, the third piece in the set of three composed by Hungarian pianist Franz Liszt, was used by one of Japan’s leading figure skaters, Mao Asada, in the 2011–2012 season.
It begins with a quietly unfolding piano tone that gradually shifts into a performance suggestive of a more passionate heart.
Although the piece has a bright character, its progression in A-flat major imparts a somewhat dark impression that is quite striking.
It’s a composition well-matched to figure skating, which not only glides smoothly but also showcases acrobatic elements.

At the finale of the ice show Fantasy on Ice, which started in Chiba City in 2019, a dream collaboration came true: Yuzuru Hanyu performed to a live rendition of “Masquerade” sung by Toshl.
“Masquerade,” meaning a masked ball, is a song with a cool yet mysterious vibe.
It also drew attention for being used as the ending theme for TV Tokyo’s Drama 25 series MASK MEN.
BOW AND ARROWYonezu Kenshi

The exhilarating melody and powerful drum patterns brilliantly capture the sensation of sprinting forward.
Crafted by Kenshi Yonezu, this piece portrays the courage and passion of taking on figure skating through the metaphor of a bow and arrow.
It vividly depicts both the challenger striving to surpass themselves and the bonds with those who support them, achieving a fine balance between the allure of sports and human drama.
Released in January 2025, it was selected as the opening theme for the TV anime “Medalist.” Yonezu, a fan of the original work, personally requested to create the anime’s theme song—a background that is reflected in the work’s high level of polish.
From brisk exit scenes to dynamic performances at school sports days, the song’s tone complements the powerful movements of children and stands out as one of its key charms.
MIRACLESarah Brightman

This is “MIRACLE,” created by YOSHIKI of X JAPAN, enveloped in a majestic atmosphere.
Included on the 2013 album “YOSHIKI CLASSICAL,” the piece was used by figure skater Mana Kawabe for her free program at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
Sarah Brightman’s powerful, impassioned vocals, together with the grand sonorities that seem to draw you into an immense, otherworldly realm, create a soundscape that feels almost beyond this world.
The song conveys a message of overcoming any obstacle to create miracles and to make one’s dreams come true.
Take Care ft. RihannaDrake

A piece by Drake and Rihanna, “Take Care ft.
Rihanna.” When people think of figure skating, many imagine dynamic music.
Of course, such tracks exist, but performances set to gentle, subdued sounds are also very popular.
This song pairs exceptionally well with that style of program.
Its verses evoke a dancehall feel, creating a well-balanced piece that remains calm while still keeping a catchy groove.
