3 simple coasters

How about making coasters as a summer vacation craft? Here, we’ll introduce three methods.
The first is a coaster made by arranging tiles on top of paper clay.
The second is a coaster made by lining up beads and melting them in the microwave.
The third is a summery coaster that expresses a seasonal scene by placing shells, sequins, and stickers in resin.
They’re all easy to make, so give them a try.
You can buy most of the materials at 100-yen shops.
stained glass wind chime
It looks even more beautiful in the sunlight! Let me share an idea for a stained-glass-style wind chime.
On hot summer days, just having a wind chime with a cool, refreshing look can make you feel pleasantly refreshed.
This time, let’s make a stained-glass wind chime using transparent origami.
You’ll need transparent origami paper, a plastic cup, an empty capsule, double-sided tape, an awl, string, and so on.
The step where you cut the transparent origami into your favorite shapes and stick them on to create a design seems like something you could enjoy doing with kids.
[100-yen shop] Squishy made with tape balloons

This is a curious craft that looks and feels mysterious: a clear, soft ball sprinkled with beautiful flowers.
It uses a tape balloon you can even get at a 100-yen shop, and you place flowers and decorations inside by sticking them onto the tape.
Close it as if you were sealing a water bottle, peel off the film, then add water after removing the film.
Shape it into a sphere, and it’s done.
Let’s carefully consider what size makes it easier to make and what items to put inside to make it look beautiful.
Felt ball caterpillar pin

Let’s make a colorful and cute caterpillar pin using felt balls.
You’ll need scissors, glue, a wooden pin/clip, felt balls, googly-eye stickers, chenille stems (pipe cleaners), sequins, and so on.
First, attach the felt balls to the wooden pin.
A key tip is to let the glue dry slightly before sticking on each piece.
Once that’s done, add the antennae and eyes, and decorate with sequins if you like.
And you’re finished! Besides the caterpillar, you can also use felt balls to make items like dango (dumplings) or fruit, so give those a try too.

How about making your own hand spinner that twirls between your fingers or on a desk, finished in a cute flower shape? Use two circles cut from cardboard for the finger pads, connect them with a toothpick to form the axle, and attach the spinning flower piece between them, leaving a slight gap as you assemble the axle.
The way it spins will change depending on the gap between your fingers and the rotating part, as well as the size of the hole the toothpick passes through, so try building it while experimenting with ways to make it spin longer.
