[For Girls] Cute Origami Ideas (141–150)
butterfly
This is a very cute butterfly made from a single sheet of origami, featuring gracefully curved wing lines.
With the colored side facing up, make a cross-shaped crease, then fold the two bottom corners up to meet at the center.
Flip it over, fold the bottom tip up to the center, and then fold the bottom corners up so they meet at the center as well.
Turn it over, open out the lower triangular section, then flip it back again and fold the bottom edge up to align perfectly with the top edge.
Continue folding while adding multiple creases at the top to refine the shape, and your butterfly is complete! Try displaying it on a wall together with origami flowers and other decorations.
Hello Kitty
Hello Kitty is beloved by children and adults in Japan, and her popularity has spread around the world.
This origami can be completed with simple folds.
First, fold a white sheet of origami paper into a triangle and fold the corners toward the center.
Fold the left and right corners.
Next, fold down the top corner, then lift the bottom corner upward to form the ears.
Fold the tips of the ears to make small triangles.
Turn it over, then fold back the cheek areas to adjust the shape.
Add a ribbon made from red origami paper, and enjoy drawing the face together with your child.
Heart Medal
How about making a heart-shaped medal as a gift for yourself for working hard, or for friends and parents? You can use an origami heart as it is, or make one from a rectangle folded in half.
Once you’ve folded the heart, attach a ribbon so it can be worn around the neck.
If you’re worried the folded parts might come undone, we recommend securing them with glue or tape.

Miffy
Let’s fold a cute Miffy out of white origami! First, fold the square in half to make a crease, then fold the top and bottom edges toward the center.
Fold it in half again, open it using that crease, and fold one tip into a triangle to make the ears.
Fold both sides toward the center to make it a bit narrower, then open the other tip and fold it into a triangle—this will be the face.
Next, round the tips of the ears by folding them back, then flip it over; it should now look like a proper face.
Finally, draw cute eyes with a black pen and add Miffy’s signature X-shaped mouth, and you’re done!
Totoro photo frame made with origami
My Neighbor Totoro is a film loved across generations.
How about making a photo frame inspired by Totoro, one of the characters from the movie? All you need is origami paper.
First, make the frame part where you’ll attach the photo using origami.
Then, attach Totoro and his friends, also made from origami, around the edges to finish.
If you apply this method, you can make photo frames of other characters too.
It’s fun to imagine, thinking, “Which character should I choose?”
Origami Mickey Headband
Let’s make a Mickey headband using four sheets of origami paper! The basic method is simple: fold the paper into a triangle, then keep folding along the creases you’ve made.
Both the base and the ears use very easy folds, so even kids can give it a try.
Fold two identical pieces for the base and connect them, then sandwich the ear pieces in between to complete your Mickey headband! If you add a bow, it becomes a Minnie headband.
When wearing it, use hairpins or attach it to a real headband to secure it.

This is a cute origami seal with a rounded overall shape, with small front flippers and a tail peeking out.
The flippers and tail are layered behind the body, and because it’s made from a single sheet of paper, be mindful of overlaps and reverse folds as you go.
You’ll fold in the corners to create the roundness, and making firm creases here is important for the final balance and stability.
It’s also fun to add originality by choosing different colors of paper and deciding how to draw the expression.
