A masterpiece with exhilarating high notes. An enchanting high-tone voice.

Even when we simply say “high-tone voice,” there are many ways to express it—from piercing high notes sung in chest voice, to a softer, more mature high tone that effectively uses mixed voice or falsetto.

In this topic, we’ve gathered a wide variety of songs that showcase the appeal of different high-tone voices, ranging from the latest trending tracks to timeless classics.

High-tone vocals are pleasant to listen to on their own, but once you can comfortably sing high notes yourself, you’ll discover even more ways to enjoy these songs.

We hope this can serve as practice material and a point of reference for those who want to learn how to sing in higher registers.

About meSuperfly

Superfly – Boku no Koto (Mrs. GREEN APPLE cover) [Music Video] / Included on the cover album “Amazing” (Release: 2025.6.18)
About meSuperfly

Speaking of Superfly, isn’t she one of the quintessential artists for high-pitched songs? This track has been drawing attention because she covers Mrs.

GREEN APPLE’s “Boku no Koto” in the original key.

With Mrs.

GREEN APPLE, you feel a sense of poignancy and fragility, whereas with Superfly, it comes across as forward-looking and straight-from-the-heart strength—that’s the fun of cover songs.

The soaring high notes rising to D5 in the chorus and the falsetto at G5 fit this theme perfectly, and it’s incredibly satisfying to listen to!

Rhapsody of Temptationgirudo

Guild “Temptation Rhapsody” Music Video ~OSM version~
Rhapsody of Temptationgirudo

Released on New Year’s Day 2014, this is the 11th single by Guild, a Japanese visual kei band that’s often introduced as a junior group to Golden Bomber since they share the same agency.

I’ve worked with Guild’s singer, ryuichi—providing vocal coaching, or rather vocal production and training from the sidelines—and he’s incredibly hard-working.

During that time, his high-register range improved dramatically.

Of course, even before that he already had excellent vocal ability, and he’s an artist I’d highly recommend as a model for male amateur singers aiming for high tones.

As a band, Guild’s appeal also lies in their very technical performances, which are a joy to hear!

junkYonezu Kenshi

Kenshi Yonezu’s new song “Garakuta.” Recently, Yonezu has released a lot of downer-leaning tracks, but now he’s put out a song closer to his roots, reminiscent of “Lemon.” This piece is shaped around a classic J-pop melody.

It isn’t simply a straightforward high-note showcase, but the repeated switches between falsetto and chest voice in the chorus are breathtaking.

It’s delivered so smoothly that it feels excellent to listen to.

Definitely give it a try.

Long DreamYU-KI

This is the song “Nagai Yume” (Long Dream), released under the solo name of YUKI, the former vocalist of JUDY AND MARY.

It’s included on the album “Waves,” released in 2006.

Her expansive, punk-tinged vocals are absolutely fantastic! Being able to sing so freely in such a high register must feel incredible.

It’s a sparkling track, yet it also carries a sense of poignancy.

ZUTOMAYO (I Wish It Were Midnight All the Time) “Shade’s Dust Is Extended” Music Video (ZUTOMAYO – SHADE)
The dust on the shade extendszutto mayonaka de ii no ni.

ZUTOMAYO is a band that enjoys overwhelming support from listeners in their teens and early twenties.

They specialize in songs that blend catchiness with emotional depth, and among those, the track I especially recommend is Shade no Hoko-ri wa Enchō (The Dust of the Shade Extends).

It features a large number of mixed-voice sections and very few rests, so it demands strong stamina and precise pitch control in the high range.

Definitely consider adding it to your repertoire.

To be honest, I didn’t know this band, so I did some research to write this article and listened to their music for the first time—and wow, what a distinctive and fascinating band… or rather, songs! The vocals, sung entirely in falsetto, are especially striking.

In the recordings, beyond the falsetto itself, it also sounds like they’re actively using some corrective effects to process the voice, but a vocal performance that commits so thoroughly to falsetto can only be described as impressive.

It’s surprisingly hard to pull off, so if any guys out there are confident in their high range, definitely give it a try at karaoke!

HagurumaKANA-BOON

KANA-BOON “Haguruma” Music Video (short ver.)
HagurumaKANA-BOON

This is KANA-BOON’s 12th major-label single, released in March 2019.

It also served as the opening theme for the second cour of the TV anime Karakuri Circus.

It’s a song where you can enjoy a very resonant high tone that never thins out even at higher pitches.

The vocals likely make skillful use of a “chest-leaning mixed voice” with solid nasal resonance, and it would be an excellent piece to use as practice material for mastering this kind of vocal production.
