Local commercials broadcast in Hokkaido
In each region, there are local commercials that are only broadcast there.
In particular, the local commercials from your own hometown are likely familiar from childhood, and many of them probably stick vividly in your memory.
In this article, we’ll showcase a wide selection of local commercials that have aired in Hokkaido.
Given Hokkaido’s unique regional landscape, there are many companies and products not found on Honshu, which means there are lots of local commercials.
We’ve picked out mainly nostalgic local commercials, so please take this opportunity to check them out.

Local commercials broadcast in Hokkaido (1–10)
Miyoshino

Miyoshino Sapporo is a restaurant chain centered in Hokkaido that serves gyoza and curry rice.
Gyoza Curry—curry rice topped with gyoza—is a popular signature dish at Miyoshino.
The commercial features the song “Let’s Go!! Miyoshino!!” performed by Sapporo singer Dummy.
It introduces a variety of Miyoshino’s set menus, including Gyoza Curry.
You can really feel how much Miyoshino is loved in Hokkaido.
Yotsuba Dairy Industry: “Together with Dairy Farmers, Now and Always”

This commercial shows the scenery of Hokkaido, where Yotsuba Milk was born, conveying love and gratitude toward its hometown.
It mainly features scenes of dairy farmers, and through depictions like sunlight in the snow and rising steam, it clearly delivers a warm feeling.
The song that further accentuates the gentle atmosphere of the footage is Ayako Ikeda’s “Hikari no Ito.” Built on a calm, piano-centered sound with a soaring vocal layered on top, it also conjures the image of Hokkaido’s vast land, doesn’t it?
Aoaosapporo 2024

This is an introduction commercial for AOAO SAPPORO, an aquarium located in the Tanukikoji Shopping Street in Sapporo.
It highlights that, despite being right in the heart of the city, you can still see penguins.
It conveys that it’s easy to visit not only for locals as part of their everyday lives, but also for travelers from outside Hokkaido to fit into their itineraries.

Roadside Station Akkeshi Taste Terminal Conchiglie 2021

This is a commercial that expresses, with a unique sense of style, the foods you can enjoy at the Conchiglie roadside station in Akkeshi and how satisfying they are.
A mysterious dancer appears with the phrase “Too Tasty, Dance So Dance,” and after a countdown, performs a light, lively dance.
The background is a straightforward mix of Conchiglie’s exterior and food photos, which creates a funny contrast.
The connection between dancing and taste isn’t explained, but the content invites the imagination—suggesting flavors so delicious they make you want to start dancing.
Sapporo Classic: “Hokkaido and 40 Years”Taka and Toshi

This commercial both celebrates the 40th anniversary of Sapporo Classic and conveys gratitude and affection for Hokkaido.
It depicts people living in Hokkaido working hard, followed by scenes of meals and get-togethers; by featuring Sapporo Classic in those moments, it clearly highlights how beloved the beer is in Hokkaido.
The song that overlays the gentle scenes of the people of Hokkaido is “Koko de, Nomou yo.” performed by the duo Taka and Toshi.
With its calm sound and softly layered vocals, it gives the impression of looking back on fond memories, and the lyrics also convey a deep love for Hokkaido.
Noboribetsu Bear Park

Noboribetsu Bear Park in Noboribetsu City is a well-known attraction, partly because its commercial was featured on nationally broadcast TV programs.
The beat-driven track and the rap that does nothing but assert the park as a representative of Noboribetsu really stick in your head.
The visuals are also famous for their strong impact.
The bustling movement of countless bears, the overly vivid non-animal elements—this disjointed worldview is fascinating.
Because it delivers a simple message through such a surreal aesthetic, the facility’s name gets firmly etched into your memory.
Prince of Glasses

When it comes to major stars from Hokkaido, you can’t leave out the actor Yo Oizumi! Oizumi has appeared in many local commercials in Hokkaido, but the one I’d like to highlight is the “Megane no Prince” commercials that aired in the 2000s.
Megane no Prince is an eyewear retailer still operating in Hokkaido today, and it’s a familiar name for anyone from the region.
In the ads, Oizumi plays a store clerk, striking poses as he switches through pairs of glasses one after another—a humorous setup.
The commercial wraps up with a playful tagline that riffs on the popular variety show he stars in, ‘How Do You Like Wednesday?,’ saying, “There’s only Megapri, right?”
