Speaking of JT, in addition to selling cigarettes, they also used to sell soft drinks.
If you watch TV or browse the internet, you’ll often see JT commercials, and many people probably find the “Oni no Yuku Michi” series, the “Omouta” series, and the much-talked-about, stylish “Social Song” series especially memorable.
These commercials attract attention not only for their content but also for the music used in them.

[Moving & Cool] JT's commercial songs. Popular commercial tracks (1–10)
hometownH ZETTRIO

This commercial portrays JT’s stance on how to face changing times, set to light, uplifting music.
Centered on H ZETTRIO’s performance, the narration conveys thoughts on “change,” creating a positive tone.
The song that briskly lifts this thought-provoking theme is H ZETTRIO’s ‘Furusato.’ With an arrangement so sprightly you might not realize the original is a children’s song, it evokes a fun, nostalgic look back on one’s hometown memories.
Context of FireH ZETTRIO

This commercial depicts JT’s strong conviction: precisely because the world is changing at a dizzying pace, we should face that change with unchanging values.
The combination of H ZETTRIO’s fast-paced performance and the narration conveys a powerful drive toward the future.
The track that further accentuates the sense of speed expressed through the visuals and narration is H ZETTRIO’s “Honō no Context” (“Context of Flame”).
Its light, agile playing still carries a sense of urgency, and the way the highlights shift one after another showcases that speed.
I want to be dumped with a happy endingAnri

This commercial promotes Sometime Light through refreshing footage of a haircut on a building rooftop.
Both the woman cutting and the man getting his hair cut are smiling, which really conveys the fresh, uplifting mood.
Enhancing the playful, breezy atmosphere of the visuals is Anri’s song “I Want to Be Dumped with a Happy End.” Although the theme is heartbreak, the sound and vocals feel light, revealing a positive emotion that encourages moving forward.
We Will Rock YouQueen

The song featured in JT’s Roots commercial is Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” one of the band’s signature tracks.
The powerful, foot-stomping sound at the beginning is striking, and from that forceful resonance you can feel a determination to move forward and a sense of excitement about the future.
As the vocals and instrumentation layer on from there, it evokes a growing strength and even a sense of human connection.
The opening tends to get most of the attention, but I recommend listening all the way through to really feel how far the intensity builds by the end.
Shake Hip!kome kome CLUB

Speaking of Kome Kome Club, even if you’re not from that generation, you’ve probably heard their massive, history-making hits like “Roman Hikō” and “Kimi ga Iru Dake de.” As a bona fide entertainment troupe, they’ve also released many tracks that combine flashy brass sections with intense funkiness.
Their second single, “Shake Hip!,” released in 1986, is a classic that lets you fully savor their funky musical style.
The version used in a 2009 JT Roots commercial was the “ROYAL MIX ver.,” which the band themselves rearranged in a parody-like style.
The lyrics are so striking they’ll make you laugh, but by all means, check out how cool the original version is too!
MomotaroH ZETTRIO

This commercial portrays JT’s views on what changes and what remains unchanged, inspired by the concept of arranging timeless classics.
It alternates between H ZETTRIO’s performance and narration, and from the performers’ joyful expressions, you can sense a positive resolve to move toward the future.
The lively mood of the visuals is firmly supported by H ZETTRIO’s rendition of “Momotaro.” Precisely because the arrangement is boldly crafted to highlight the fun, it also conveys an attitude of embracing the pace of change with positivity.
Old taleMurakami Motoi

A commercial where a seemingly heartless oni played by Takayuki Yamada sets off on a journey to discover the richness of the heart.
It feels like there will be sequels to come, doesn’t it? JT’s corporate philosophy is “More richness in the heart,” and I’m intrigued by the oni’s journey to learn what that means.
It’s styled like an old folktale, which fits perfectly, since it feels like people in the past had more emotional richness.
The BGM features a piece composed by Motoki Murakami of Zainichi Funk.
The sound design is striking, blending a sense of traditional Japanese folk music with a jazzy vibe.
