Message, Gesture, and Expression Games (11–20)

Team Gesture Game Competition

It’s a game where one person on the team looks at a prompt and acts it out with gestures, while the other members try to guess what it is.

It tests the team’s ability to cooperate—choosing movements that are as clear as possible and carefully observing even the small details.

Setting a time limit to push for quicker answers is also recommended; the rush to convey the idea might lead to some funny, unexpected movements.

If you gradually make the prompts more detailed and difficult, you’ll likely start to see each person’s unique style in which parts they focus on when they move.

First Impressions Game

First Impressions Game: We guessed each other's personalities upon first meeting. With rewards included.
First Impressions Game

A first-impression game recommended for junior high school students.

It’s a simple game that helps deepen bonds with friends.

All you have to do is nominate someone based on the prompt, so you can start right away.

With LINE calls or Zoom, you can enjoy it with friends who are far away, too.

You’ll learn how everyone sees each other and might discover new sides of your friends.

It’s bound to be full of laughter.

Just remember to be considerate of others’ feelings—that’s the key.

Try it during break time, after school, or at a party at home in all kinds of situations.

It will surely become a fun memory.

Reverse Playback Telephone Game

[Hilarious] Everyone, let’s play the reverse playback telephone game together!! #Justistar #ReversePlayback #Comedy
Reverse Playback Telephone Game

Do you know the reverse-playback telephone game that’s great for high school students? You use a smartphone app to record a word or phrase, play it backwards, and then pass it along by imitating that strange sound.

When the last person’s recording is played in reverse, can they guess the original word? It’s much more fun than the regular telephone game, so I recommend it.

Try it when you get together with friends.

It’s easy to enjoy anywhere—like in a classroom or café—so it’s perfect for breaks or weekends.

Make it a team competition, and it’ll be even more exciting.

You’re sure to have a great time.

Heaven and Hell – Offenbach

Recommended games that are fun even with large groups! Here are ideas for the “I came alone” game.

These are large-group ideas you can play in class recreation, too.

Once everyone sits in a circle so you can see all the participants, you’re ready to start! The first person raises a hand and says, “I came alone!” Then the next two people raise their hands and say, “We came as two!” Next, three people, then four, and so on; after reaching five, it goes back to one.

Once you get used to it, it’s also fun to arrange it as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!

Indoor physical activities (1–10)

Balloon volleyball is a game that people of all ages can enjoy.

This easy-to-start game only needs a string and a balloon, and the light balloon’s unpredictable movement excites everyone.

You don’t even need a special court—its appeal is that you can play it easily in places like classrooms.

As the balloon floats and drifts, it’s hard to judge the perfect timing to hit it back, so the game is sure to be full of smiles.

Balloon volleyball draws in not only children but adults too, and it helps deepen connections with friends and teachers.

Try customizing the rules and have fun together!

The Retirement of Sherlock Holmes

This is a game for the school trip and recreation.
The Retirement of Sherlock Holmes

This is a game called “Sherlock Holmes’ Retirement Tale.” Lots of people can join, so it’s perfect for places like schools.

Since players keep walking over others who are on all fours, it probably requires quite a bit of stamina.

You can compete against each other, so it really gets exciting!

human disentanglement puzzle

“Kangiko Kids Experience Workshop” Human Puzzle (Human Wire Puzzle)
human disentanglement puzzle

This is the “human knot,” where everyone holds hands and ends up tangled, then works to untangle themselves.

Everyone stands in a circle facing inward and uses one hand to hold the hand of someone who is not directly next to them.

Once everyone has joined one hand, use the other hand to hold the hand of a different person who is also not next to you.

Then, by ducking under arms and moving carefully, untangle yourselves until you form one neat circle.

long rope jumping

Long-rope jumping is a pastime that could be called a symbol of teamwork.

It’s essential for the jumpers to synchronize their timing, and the key to jumping for a long time is to keep your feet low and move them quickly and rhythmically.

Those turning the rope should also keep a low stance and aim for a steady rotation.

What’s more, long-rope jumping helps improve not only physical ability but communication skills as well.

When you want to deepen your relationships with classmates, this traditional cooperative game offers some of the most precious moments.

Try it together, and you’ll find your friendships grow much stronger.

Chinese jump ropeNEW!

Let's try rubber band jumping!! #1
Chinese jump ropeNEW!

This is a game where you make a loop out of 2 to 3 meters of flat elastic, like the kind used for sewing, and two people hold it or clamp it around their legs while someone jumps.

It has been popular with children since the Showa era and seems to have been especially trendy in the 1980s.

The jumper hops and twists the elastic in time with a song, and it’s also fun to gradually raise the height when they succeed.

Avoid busy sidewalks and play in safe places like parks.

These days, colorful elastics made specifically for this game are also sold.

Balloon Catch

Can you catch a balloon that flew away using just your reflexes?!
Balloon Catch

There are many kinds of catch games, but in Balloon Catch you hold an inflated balloon without tying the mouth, then let go and see if you can catch it as the air escapes and it flies off.

Unlike a balloon that’s filled with air and gently floating, a balloon that’s losing air moves unpredictably and isn’t easy to catch.

It darts around very quickly, moving almost like a living creature.
