[Tokyo Gas] Want to watch again! A roundup of moving all-time commercials (1–10)
Family Bonds: Like Parent, Like ChildSayaka Aoki / Tamaki Shiratori / Shinsuke Ishizaka

This is the Tokyo Gas commercial Family Bonds: Like Parent, Like Child, which aired in 2017.
It tells the story of a family of three—a mother, father, and an elementary school-aged daughter—with narration from the mother’s perspective.
The mother is played by comedian Sayaka Aoki.
In the latter half, the daughter’s perspective repeats the narrative like a running gag, making it a heartwarming commercial that invites laughter.
I’m jealous of how stylish their home is.
Family Bonds: Mother’s CheesecakeYuki Sakurai / Shinobu Terajima

This is a Tokyo Gas commercial featuring Shinobu Terajima and Yuki Sakurai.
Yuki Sakurai plays the bride, and Shinobu Terajima plays the groom’s mother.
Ever since he was little, whenever he worked hard at something, his beloved mother would make him her cheesecake.
He promised he would have it at his own wedding, but his mother passed away before that day came.
To fulfill that wish, she leaves a letter to the bride with the recipe, asking her to make it.
Working together with the groom’s father to honor the mother’s and the groom’s wishes, they bake the cheesecake and serve it at the wedding, unfolding a moving story.
Family Bonds: The Helping Ticket (Edition)

Many of you may remember this commercial that tells a touching story about a father reaching retirement.
When a family member retires, the first thought is usually to prepare something to say thank you for all their hard work.
But this father tells his family not to prepare anything, then takes out an old “help coupon” he once received from his daughter and asks, “I want you to help me thank Mom.” The two of them cook a meal for her, and as Mom beams with happiness, the father looks a bit shy.
He’d always seemed a little intimidating, but from that moment, it seems his daughter’s impression of him changed.
[Tokyo Gas] The Most Moving Classic Commercials You’ll Want to Watch Again (11–20)
Family Bonds: The Lunchbox EmailKaori Mizushima

A series of lunchboxes packed with a mother’s messages to her son, who has stopped talking to her like he used to since hitting adolescence.
It’s a commercial that makes you smile—and cry—as you see bento boxes filled with various sentiments like “Do your best” and “Congratulations.” Watching it reminds you of the lunches your own mother made, doesn’t it? Those lunchboxes surely carried many feelings as well.
At the end of the commercial, the mother is shown tearing up at a message from her son.
It makes you realize how important it is to express gratitude in words.
MASK OF GAS EPISODE 3: Sleeping Floor-Heating Beauty

This commercial is the third episode, Sleeping Beauty of the Floor Heating, in Tokyo Gas’s popular drama-style CM series Gas no Kamen (The Gas Mask).
Yutaka Takenouchi appears in the role of the “mysterious masked man.” He was cast because, while he usually has a refreshing image, the idea was that he would seem interesting once he put on a mask.
Mugi Kadowaki, who plays Mai, is skilled in ballet, and it’s said that she performs all the scenes in this CM herself.
It’s a commercial that really makes you curious about the upcoming episodes!
Pipit Stove: Ayano Grill Edition

This is a Tokyo Gas commercial for the “Ayano Grill” from the Pipitto Stove series.
It features Go Ayano and Kimimaro Ayanokoji working at a restaurant called Ayano Grill.
Go Ayano looks super cool and stylish as he serves spare ribs to a customer, but then Kimimaro Ayanokoji swoops in from the side saying, “They’re spare buri,” and serves buri fish instead—a must-see moment.
The slightly unimpressed look on the female customer’s face at the silly joke is great! If a place like this actually existed, I’d definitely become a regular (lol).
Family Bonds: Dad’s Fried RiceEriko Hatsune / Kitaro

This is a commercial depicting an exchange between a father and his daughter before her wedding.
The father is played by actor Kitaro, and the daughter is played by actress Eriko Hatsune.
It’s the fried rice the father would always make whenever the mother wasn’t around—the daughter says she absolutely wants to eat it before the wedding, and asks him to make it.
Then she conveys the words she couldn’t say when she was little—“It’s delicious” and “Thank you”—and the lingering tension between them gently melts away.
The look on Kitaro’s face when he feels their hearts connect brings tears to your eyes.
