Grown-up Cute: Simple Handmade Ideas for Accessories and Interior Decor (101–110)
Hemp twine lampshade

Just changing the lampshade can completely transform a room’s atmosphere! How about making a natural-style lampshade using jute twine? All you need are jute twine, wood glue, and a balloon—things you probably already have at home.
First, inflate the balloon and brush on wood glue thinned with water.
Then wrap the jute twine around it.
Once you’ve wrapped a fair amount, brush more wood glue evenly over the twine and keep layering.
Let it dry thoroughly, then cut an opening for the socket—and you’re done! It also looks great with Asian-inspired interiors.
elastic headband

How about making a rubber headband with a ribbon that even looks cute on babies? It’s easy to make! For the headband base, sew a long, narrow piece of fabric into a tube, turn it right side out, insert elastic, and sew the overlapped ends together to finish.
For the ribbon, do the same: make a fabric tube, fold in both ends, overlap them in the center, and sew while creating gathers.
Finally, place the ribbon over the seam of the base, align it at the ribbon’s center, then wrap another strip of fabric around both the ribbon center and the base and sew to secure.
You’re done! Try making it with your favorite fabrics.
Rose Gemstone Soap

Like jewels! These rose gemstone soaps are easy to make by melting and setting.
Put glycerin soap and colored soap for tinting into paper cups and heat them in the microwave to melt.
Add a few drops of aroma oil to each to give them fragrance and color, then drip the mixtures onto parchment paper to create petal pieces.
When they’re beginning to set, roll them up to form a rose shape, and apply a suitable amount of glitter along the edges of the petals.
Finally, coat the rose with melted glycerin soap, and you’re done! Please be very careful to avoid burns.
pencil case

A box-shaped pencil case isn’t just for pens—it also works as a small accessory pouch, so having one is super handy! How about customizing one to your own taste? Basically, you only need straight stitches, and there’s no need to bind the seam allowances, so even beginners with a sewing machine can make it easily.
Of course, if you’re not comfortable with a machine, hand sewing is fine too.
You can also turn it into a pouch, so feel free to change the size! Try mixing and matching fabrics and have fun with your own variations.
Pressed flower card

These are pressed flowers that can be easily made in a microwave, along with original message cards decorated with them.
Arrange flowers on a sheet of paper towel laid over cardboard, making sure they don’t overlap.
Cover them with another paper towel and a piece of cardboard, secure with rubber bands, and microwave.
That’s all it takes for the flowers to dry like pressed flowers, making them easy to use for decorations.
By incorporating seasonal blooms into the message card decorations, you can use them not only in spring but throughout the year.

Sunflowers made with beads

These are delicate beaded sunflowers that are perfect as summer accessories.
Arrange them into a necklace, earrings, a ring, or a brooch to add a stylish accent to your outfit! They also make great gifts for friends or grandchildren, so give them a try.
You’ll start by making the center, then move on to the petals.
It involves threading beads onto fishing line in small, detailed steps, but once you get the hang of it, it’s mostly repetition, so I think you’ll find it easy to make.
In conclusion
Did any of the handmade ideas or recipes make you want to try them? Many of them can be made with fabric scraps or done easily—perfect for a little pastime—so please try making them in your spare time or as a change of pace!
