Kao Biore: “For soft skin that embraces water.” – Satoko Koizumi – ♪ MISIA “SHININ’ ~Nijiiro no Rhythm~ (Rainbow-colored Rhythm)”

This is the Biore facial wash commercial by Kao, titled “Aseranai Asa” (An Unhurried Morning), featuring model Satoko Koizumi.

In the dry season, we tend to panic about moisturizing right after washing our face, but this ad conveys that it’s okay—there’s time to spare in the morning.

Koizumi’s clear, luminous presence adds to the charm, making it a lovely commercial.

The CM song is MISIA’s digital-only single from 2005, “SHININ’ ~Nijiiro no Rhythm~.” MISIA’s expansive vocals perfectly match the refreshing morning vibe of the spot.

Original songShūtānegi

This is a commercial for Biore u hand soap featuring baseball player Lars Nootbaar—well known for his performance with Japan in the 2023 WBC—appearing together with his parent.

It clearly shows various people washing their hands, and the smiles on their faces convey the joy of getting their hands clean.

Further highlighting the relaxed, cheerful atmosphere of the footage is the music by Shuta Negi.

The melody, layered with whistle-like tones, supported by gentle acoustic sounds, warmly captures the feeling the ad aims to express.

Kao Men’s Biore THE FACE — I love it so much I don’t want to lend it. 15-second commercial starring Masaki Suda and Kai Inowaki

This commercial conveys the appeal of Men’s Biore THE FACE through the interaction between Masaki Suda and Kai Inowaki and the way they pause to think.

When Inowaki asks to borrow a face wash, Suda finds himself not wanting to lend Men’s Biore THE FACE.

In the end, the fact that he tells a lie also communicates his deep affection.

The song playing in the background of this everyday, casual exchange is “Ievan Polkka,” a traditional Finnish polka.

The polka’s light, buoyant rhythm heightens the fun and, layered with the visuals, also seems to express a sense of relaxation.

Little ChanceNishida Hikaru

This was the third single, released in 1988.

It was also tied in with Biore Facial Foam, but with its relaxed rhythm it has a different, sultrier charm than “Natural Summer days.” It evokes the mood of a mature romance.

The lyrics were written by Chinfa Kan, who has worked on many idol pop songs and with artists like KinKi Kids and BoA, and is still active today.

The record’s jacket photo is very stylish—be sure to look it up.

Give Me ParadiseNishino Taeko

“Give Me Paradise” was the second single and was used as the image song for Kao Biore Facial Wash.

This track features Taeko Nishino’s alluring vocals, which are wonderful.

Its sparkling sound creates a memorable, luxurious atmosphere.

It may feel like the opposite of a facial wash’s image, but Nishino’s cute charm must have balanced it out.

The more you listen, the more addictive it becomes.

It delivers a lightning-like jolt along with a refreshing sensation.

Taeko Nishino had numerous tie-ins with Biore commercial songs.

This track, “Kanashii Ringo” (Sad Apple), was also chosen as a CM song for Biore Facial Foam as her third single, making it three consecutive Biore tie-ins starting from her debut “A-Class Kiss.” She even appeared in the commercials herself, and I’m sure many people were captivated by her adorable presence.

It’s a song with a classic kayōkyoku vibe—its distinctive rhythm and electronic sounds make it fun and danceable! The composition was handled by Koji Makaino, well-known for his work with Arashi.

Incidentally, there’s also an early 1989 version, arranged by Yuzo Hayashi.

Negicco, a three-member local idol group from Niigata Prefecture, perform and dance to the idol song “That Weakly Acidic One.” The title is quintessentially Biore, and the track itself is excellent.

The commercial comes in two versions: one featuring Negicco themselves, and another featuring the familiar Biore mom.

The song is catchy and cute, further reinforcing the impression that “weakly acidic” means Biore.

Since the members of Negicco are married, they also fit perfectly with the mom image!
