You’re sure to discover a new favorite artist who resonates deeply with your heart.

Male singers with great vocal skills: powerful, technically proficient, and emotionally expressive performers (ages 31–40)

20+∞Century Boysyasu(Acid Black Cherry)

Hugely popular V-kei band Acid Black Cherry’s singer, yasu.

The charm of his singing voice lies above all in his clear, bright, and powerful mid-to-high range.

He likely centers his singing on a mixed voice with relatively little breathiness and a strong chest-voice component, but his transitions to chest voice in the low-mid range and to breathy falsetto are also smooth.

His “depth” in the chesty low-mid range is appealing as well.

Personally, I also find him easy to listen to because he has relatively few of the distinctive quirks typical of V-kei singers.

HANABISakurai Kazutoshi (Mr.Children)

I think what makes Mr.Children who they are is that sweet, kitten-like vocal quality combined with a range that resonates even in the high keys.

The songs themselves are, of course, excellent, but it’s Sakurai Kazutoshi’s singing that truly brings out the essence of Mr.Children.

I’ve heard he took a hiatus around 2002 due to illness, but since his return, his vocal ability has become even more refined.

No, that’s not it.Suzuki Masayuki

Masayuki Suzuki has the vocal prowess to deliver funky numbers with great rhythm and to sing sweet love songs with a mood-filled sensuality.

He’s a one-of-a-kind singer who captivates many people, including with his performances.

Be sure to check him out.

Kenshi Yonezu, who was active as the former Vocaloid producer “Hachi.” Perhaps thanks to that background, he has the kind of vocal ability that lets him master melodies with ranges that, in a sense, ignore human singing limits—truly impressive.

In particular, his technique of transitioning from a soft middle voice to high falsetto without revealing a register shift is remarkable.

That said, judging from the direction of his sound production, it’s also clear that much of this vocal expression likely draws fully on his experience as a Vocaloid creator and makes extensive use of modern technology.

So while it’s somewhat uncertain how much raw, “unprocessed” singing power he has, using the latest technology in a positive way to maximize musical expression is arguably the most important skill for singers and artists living in this era.

He’s truly a next-generation, highly capable singer.

Sorrow like snowHamada Shogo

Sadness Like Snow (ON THE ROAD 2011 “The Last Weekend”)
Sorrow like snowHamada Shogo

In Shogo Hamada’s singles, the original version was released in 1981, and a remake version came out in 1992, which was also used as the theme song for a TV drama.

The greatest appeal of Hamada’s singing is, above all, his voice—especially its captivating lower register.

This is a work where songwriting and production fully leveraged that vocal quality to remarkable effect.

While his approach to high notes may not be correct in an academic sense, his expressive power turns even those shortcomings into charms—truly impressive.

They’re a singer with a distinctive vocal style, yet their voice also has strength, and their vibrato and other nuances are very beautiful, so I think they sing with a wide range of expression.

It’s also intriguing that, even though they don’t use a very breathy technique, their singing still sounds incredibly gentle.

After the FestivalKuwata Keisuke (Sazan Ōrusutāzu)

Keisuke Kuwata, also known from Southern All Stars.

In live performances he jokes around and gets the crowd going, and he often takes big liberties with his phrasing, but his vocal ability is the real deal.

Pitch, of course—but above all, his sense of rhythm is fantastic! That distinctive groove no doubt feeds into his songwriting as well.
