MIRRORSCANDAL
SCANDAL is a girls’ band formed in 2006 whose members were all teenagers at the time, performing live in school uniforms.
From their early days they released many songs for which they wrote the lyrics themselves, and since their sixth album HELLO WORLD in 2014, they have composed the majority of their album tracks as well.
They are a band that has continued to evolve not just as girls who can play instruments, but as artists.
Orangeakai kouen
Akaiko-en is a band that began in 2010, formed by upper- and underclassmen from a high school light music club.
They made their major debut in 2012.
The leader, Komei Tsuno, who played guitar and wrote almost all of the band’s lyrics and music, also provided songs for many artists, including SMAP’s “Joy!!”.
From 2017 to 2018, the vocalist changed from Chiaki Sato to Riko Ishino.
Their world of sound is hard-hitting yet sometimes tinged with a kayōkyoku-like flavor, and their all-around versatility defies easy genre classification—that’s part of their appeal.
The exquisite blend of sweet, comfortable high notes with a slightly heavier sound creates an irresistible, pleasantly groovy ensemble.
Ultramarine DaysToukyou Jihen
A band formed in 2003 with Ringo Sheena at its center.
Each member has a diverse musical background, and in live performances they showcase exceptional musical sensibility and technical skill, often playing arrangements different from their recorded releases.
Although they went on hiatus in 2012, they resumed activities in 2020.
Judgement DayLOVEBITES
LOVEBITES continues to radiate a one-of-a-kind presence that sets them apart even among girl bands.
Formed in 2016, they’ve captivated rock fans and music lovers of all kinds with their authentic heavy metal sound, performing at numerous festivals overseas.
Their powerful, high-level musicianship pulls you right in, while Asami’s lustrous vocals highlight the songs’ brilliance and cool edge.
Although they went on hiatus in 2021 following the departure of bassist Miho, Fami joined the band in 2022 after a worldwide audition.
With this new lineup, LOVEBITES continues to evolve—definitely a band to keep your eyes on!
Revolveryonige
Yonige is a girls’ band from Osaka.
They’re hugely popular, especially among younger generations! Rather than playing the cute songs often associated with all-female rock bands, they’re a cool group with a guitar-rock approach marked by distorted guitar tones.
Layered on top is vocalist Arisa Ushimaru’s husky voice, which makes their tracks stand out even more.
At the same time, their lyrics—often drawn from her own experiences and written from a woman’s perspective—resonate with listeners and embody a distinctly feminine kind of cool.
GIGCHIANZ
CHIANZ is a four-piece girls’ band made up of childhood friends.
Their bold, cool sound, influenced by alternative bands, is their biggest draw.
Their debut single “GIG,” with its breezy alt-rock sound and bilingual Japanese-English lyrics, has captured the hearts of many listeners.
Each member brings a uniquely rich background, blending their experiences to create a distinctive sound.
In 2023, they planned an EP production and a release show via crowdfunding, deepening their connection with fans.
Presenting a new vision of what a girls’ band can be, CHIANZ is also eyeing the global stage, and we can’t wait to see what they do next!
Interrupted breathpotari
If you’re craving fiery girls’ rock, you’ve gotta check out Potari! They were a four-piece girls’ band from Toyohashi City in Aichi Prefecture, mainly active around Nagoya.
They disbanded in March 2019, but their songs will surely continue to be passed down.
Many of their tracks have a powerful sound you wouldn’t expect from a girls’ band, making them perfect for cranking up your energy.
