waveAJICO

AJICO is a true supergroup composed of the renowned female artist UA, Kenichi “Benji” Asai of former BLANKEY JET CITY, TOKIE formerly of RIZE, and Kyoichi Shiino, who played drums on UA’s tour.
Their brief activity from 2000 to 2001 somehow only adds to their star quality.
And there was great news: they restarted in 2021! Be sure to experience the works of this band, which feels like a collective of artists led by UA.
N.E.O.CHAI

CHAI is a band that introduced a new sense of value called “NEO KAWAII.” The group was formed by four members: Mana (keyboard/vocals) and Kana (guitar/vocals), who are twins; Yuna (drums), who was in the same high school light music club; and Yuuki (bass), whom they met in college.
They blend Western music like punk and dance into their own unique style, crafting highly individual songs.
With lyrics that affirm you just as you are—“Complexes are art”—their music gives you courage and fills you with a positive feeling!

The Night Before Goodbyeyayuyo

Yayuyo is a four-piece all-girl band formed in 2019 in their high school light music club.
They gained attention with the hit single “Sayonara Zenya.” Their charm lies in a nostalgic-tinged guitar sound and Riko’s strong, clear vocals.
The lyrics feel like snapshots of everyday moments, and you’re sure to find parts that resonate with your own life.
Whether you want to boost your energy or sink into a sentimental mood, their songs fit a variety of scenes.
Their music videos are retro and colorful too, so enjoy watching them!

Clammbon is a band consisting of vocalist/keyboardist Ikuko Harada, bassist Mito, and drummer Daisuke Ito.
Formed in 1995 by classmates at a vocational school for a concert, they kept performing and made their major-label debut in 1999.
In 2015, they left their major label.
At FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’22, they drew attention by stepping in as a substitute for YOASOBI.
Their comfortable pop sound, infused with elements of jazz, AOR, and soul, creates a soothing atmosphere.
The sense of floatiness and playful sonic imagery is also appealing.
In contrast to their often gentle songwriting, their fiery live performances are widely popular and well regarded.
Hello YouthLONGMAN

LONGMAN is a three-piece band from Ehime Prefecture.
With SAWA—the sole female member—on bass and vocals, they feature male–female twin vocals.
Formed at their university in 2012, they made their major-label debut in 2019.
They’re regulars at summer festivals.
Their early, strongly melodic hardcore tracks and their later, more poppy and catchy songs alike are bright and sure to lift your spirits! Just hearing SAWA’s lively vocals is energizing.
They’re a band you can expect even more from going forward!
TriangleChirinuruwo Waka

A band formed around Yuu (Yumi Nakashima) from former GO!GO!7188.
On bass is Eikichi Iwai, who has worked with numerous artists, and on drums is Kosaku Abe, formerly of THE COLLECTORS.
All songs are written and composed by Yumi Nakashima.
Compared to GO!GO!7188, I feel there are even more tracks that fit a sepia-tinged landscape.
Their straightforward band sound—easy to appreciate in any venue, anywhere—is a must-hear.
Guitar, Loneliness, and the Blue Planetkessoku bando

Kessoku Band has become popular well beyond the confines of being a fictional band from an anime, drawing the attention of many music fans.
They’re a girls’ band that appears in the 2022 anime adaptation of the hit manga Bocchi the Rock!, made up of four high school girls including the protagonist and guitarist, Hitori Goto.
The live house in Shimokitazawa featured in the show has become a pilgrimage site for anime fans, evoking a phenomenon reminiscent of K-On! over a decade ago.
The secret to their success, much like K-On!, lies in the sheer quality of the songs themselves.
Their debut album, Kessoku Band, released in 2022, topped the Oricon charts.
It includes a cover of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s “Rolling Stone, Morning Comes to You,” and the solid band ensemble provided by seasoned session musicians, along with a set of tracks that recall the lineage of Japanese rock since the 2000s, has captured the hearts of music lovers.
The singing voice of Ikuyo Kita’s voice actor, Ikumi Hasegawa, is wonderful as well.
Don’t let preconceptions about “an in-anime band” hold you back—give their music a listen.
