NTT’s commercial song. A popular jingle.
NTT’s TV commercials often feature clever concepts—some are funny, others are striking and memorable.
The music they use also includes many catchy songs that stick in your head.
But even if you find a song you like, you might think, “I’ve heard this so many times, but I don’t know the artist or the title!” If I can help answer those questions, I’d be delighted.
With a star-studded cast—including Gen Hoshino, who’s also active as an actor, comedian Naomi Watanabe, and the promising actress Kanna Hashimoto—the ads are a feast to watch.

Tonight TonightHot Chelle Rae

Sony Music’s “#NewNatsumero Begins” spot poses a question that reexamines the definition of a ‘natsumero’ (nostalgic hit).
In the commercial’s narration, it looks back on the last ten years and suggests shifting the window of what counts as a nostalgic song forward by a generation.
The CM features PSPs, Walkmans, and iconic tracks from the 2010s, which will surely feel nostalgic to many people now around their 30s.
The background music is Hot Chelle Rae’s “Tonight Tonight,” a classic pop-rock hit released in 2011.
Many listeners will recognize it—and for plenty, the sound itself will spark nostalgia.

FireworkKaty Perry

Actress Satomi Ishihara appears in the commercial introducing irumo, NTT Docomo’s new pricing plan, which appeals with the message of making smartphone fees—now a daily necessity—more accessible.
The background music is Katy Perry’s “Firework,” a standout hit of the 2010s whose exhilarating chorus is irresistibly uplifting.
echoyama

NTT Docomo’s “Graduation of Hopes” was released as a collaborative movie between Docomo and yama, crafted to feel like a music video for one of yama’s songs.
It gathers things users “wish would disappear from society,” presenting them within the film as Graduation Hope Certificates.
The background music is a newly produced track titled “Kodama.” Like the collaborative movie, the song was created based on user input, carrying an encouraging message about facing oneself.
It’s a supportive anthem that will likely serve as a source of strength.
SAKURAikimonogakari

It was released in 2006 as Ikimono-gakari’s major-label debut single.
It was featured as the NTT “DENPO115” and NTT East area commercial song.
Despite being their debut work, it became a long-selling hit, staying on the Oricon charts for 31 weeks.
Due to its lyrics, it is highly popular as a staple “sakura song” and “graduation song.”
scarecrowsadamasashi

This song expresses the feelings of an older brother living in his hometown who worries about the lives of his younger brother and sister who have moved to the big city.
The scarecrow standing alone in a wide rice field overlaps with the brother himself, who has experienced city life and come to know loneliness.
It is a message song from the brother waiting back home, concerned that his siblings in the city might be suffering the same loneliness and hardship.
Full-Power BoySukima Suichi

Becoming a working adult and gaining various experiences isn’t always fun—there are times of worry and hardship too.
This song gives you a push to keep moving forward, reminding you of your boyhood days when you fearlessly threw yourself into new challenges with pure innocence.
The Song of HarajukuInoue Sonoko, Takahashi Kai (LUCKY TAPES), Nakajima Ikkyu, Mossa (Nekura Tōkī), Yumeya Masaru, Shimajii

This work, which expresses Harajuku’s diversity and energy, is a relay-style track by six artists.
Each contributes with different rhythms and visual direction, resulting in a deliberately chaotic piece that completely ignores uniformity.
Released in February 2019 as an NTT DOCOMO web commercial, it was produced as part of a collaboration project with Harajuku’s Takeshita Street.
Featuring iconic Harajuku items like crepes, candy, and tapioca drinks, it’s an exciting piece to watch.
Highly recommended for those who want to fully experience the charm of Harajuku or enjoy a showcase of distinctive, individualistic artists.
