A roundup of songs from Suzuki commercials: the appeal of friendly J-pop and Western music

Speaking of Suzuki, in addition to popular kei cars like the Spacia, Hustler, and Alto, the lineup is known for being approachable, with models like the Solio—a compact family car that’s also very popular.

Even when you’re watching TV, you often see commercials for these hit models, right?

In this article, we’ll introduce the songs that have been used in commercials for Suzuki’s popular models.

Suzuki’s commercials feature not only popular J-pop, but also many covers of classic hits, and a lot of them are really catchy in their presentation.

More recently, there’s also been an increase in original songs made specifically for the commercials.

All of the songs tend to stick in your head, so you might find yourself thinking, “What’s that song called?”

There are plenty of classics you may have heard even if you didn’t know their names!

SUZUKI Chevrolet MW

D.D.D. feat. SOULHEADKōda Kumi

This is a single released by Kumi Koda in December 2005, which peaked at number 5 on the Oricon chart.

It won BEST COLLABORATION VIDEO at SPACE SHOWER MVA 06.

It was later used in a commercial for Suzuki’s Chevrolet MW.

The song was composed by Mike Wilsh and Mike Deegan, with lyrics written by Pierre Delanoë.

Many artists have sung the Japanese version.

The version sung by Reitaro Strange was used in a Suzuki Lapin Chocolat commercial.

SUZUKI Chevrolet MW

every-bodyTanimura Nana

“every-body,” in which Nanao Tanimura herself also appears and which was used as the CM song for the Chevrolet MW, is a single released in 2009.

It’s a dance track marked by fresh, breezy, and light guitar, with a pleasant melody that feels perfect for brightening summer moments.

Surprisingly, MONKEY MAJIK handled the song, lyrics and all.

Wrapped in a slightly mature vibe with a message of enjoying time for just the two of you, it’s a track you’ll want to listen to carefully on the way home—say, after a date.

SUZUKI Alto

RokaYusa Mimori

Roka is an album released in 1997 by singer-songwriter Mimori Yusa.

One of its tracks was released as a single and used in a commercial for Alto.

The uniquely compelling mood—driven by a danceable, irregular meter—may reflect local elements incorporated during recording in Ireland.

The title means “filtration,” and the song feels like it “filters” away sad events and painful feelings.

Yusa’s warm, clear voice truly soaks in.

It’s recommended for times when you feel a hole in your heart, or right after the rain has passed.

Commercial: Suzuki Spacia “Monster”

This song, the theme from the 1984 American film Ghostbusters, is probably one that even younger generations who haven’t seen the movie have heard somewhere.

It’s sung by American musician Ray Parker Jr.

The track is used in many different contexts, and it’s also featured in commercials for the Spacia.

With its catchy, fun vibe, it’s a perfect fit for Spacia’s many cheerful, family-oriented ads!

SUZUKI Escudo

MENTHOL HEAVENTUBE

MENTHOL HEAVEN was featured as the theme song for the New Escudo commercial.

It was the B-side to the single Hanabi and was included on the 1998 album HEAT WAVER.

Along with TUBE’s signature freshness, the song’s boundless, piercing vibe is totally invigorating—just like menthol.

It’s also perfect as a driving song.

With imagery that evokes Hawaii, it lays bare honest feelings alongside a resort-like, summertime sense of freedom, making it a smile-inducing summer tune.

SUZUKI Chevrolet Cruze commercial song

An angel’s shareGLAY

A GLAY rock tune that delivers a jolt from the very first intro.

It was used in the commercial for the Chevrolet Cruze.

I still remember how stunned I was back then by how cool it was.

The mature romance in TAKURO’s signature style—like blending love with the “angel’s share,” the portion of whiskey that evaporates—is captivating, and TERU’s sexy vocals and the guitars are absolutely top-tier too! So cool! Even though it’s a 2004 track, it still feels fresh after all these years.
