A roundup of songs from Suzuki commercials: the appeal of friendly J-pop and Western music
Speaking of Suzuki, in addition to popular kei cars like the Spacia, Hustler, and Alto, the lineup is known for being approachable, with models like the Solio—a compact family car that’s also very popular.
Even when you’re watching TV, you often see commercials for these hit models, right?
In this article, we’ll introduce the songs that have been used in commercials for Suzuki’s popular models.
Suzuki’s commercials feature not only popular J-pop, but also many covers of classic hits, and a lot of them are really catchy in their presentation.
More recently, there’s also been an increase in original songs made specifically for the commercials.
All of the songs tend to stick in your head, so you might find yourself thinking, “What’s that song called?”

Suzuki commercial song roundup: The charm of friendly J-pop and Western music (11–20)
Boogie RideKubota Toshinobu

In Suzuki’s commercial for the Escudo SUV, titled “The Whole Earth Is a Stage,” Toshinobu Kubota appears, and his own song “Boogie Ride” plays.
When you think of SUVs, you might first picture something solid, powerful, and rugged.
In fact, the commercial shows the Escudo powerfully advancing over rough terrain.
However, SUVs have recently become popular across a wide range of age groups, combining not only strength but also a refined sense of style.
This track is a perfectly stylish song to promote that new image of SUVs.
Malibu GirlHirai Dai

The commercial song chosen for Suzuki’s Swift “Father and Daughter Car Wash” episode featuring Anna Yamada is Dai Hirai’s “Malibu Girl.” Released as a digital single in 2021, it’s a fast-paced summer tune packed with Hirai’s charm.
The lyric video on YouTube features surfing and beach scenes that perfectly match the song’s vibe.
Be sure to give “Malibu Girl” a listen on your next drive to the ocean!
OverdriveAimer

In the commercial for the kei car Lapin, known for its cute design, titled “Let’s Get Going,” a drama-style video unfolds with the message, “For everyone who wants to take a step forward.” Combined with Aimer’s song used as the BGM, it’s the kind of commercial that grabs your attention the moment it airs.
The song featured in the CM is “Overdrive,” included on the single “Hakushoku Kagerō,” released in 2023.
Its lyrics, which inspire the courage to take a step toward the future, are compelling, making it a popular anthem of encouragement.
Papa Loves MamboHirano Wataru

Since the model change in 2020, a different song has been used, but I think many people still associate the first-generation Hustler commercials with this track.
The original song was performed by American singer Perry Como, while the version used in the commercials is an arranged cover sung by vocalist Wataru Hirano.
Its cheerful arrangement perfectly matches the Hustler’s key message of enjoying freedom!
Take Me Out to the Ball GameSekitori Hana

In the Spacia commercial “The Family: Ukulele by the Seaside/Evening” featuring Mana Ashida, Kokoro Terada, Jiro Sato, and Noriko Nakagoshi as a family, the song playing is a parody of the well-known Major League Baseball tune “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” covered by singer-songwriter Hana Sekitori.
In the original, the Japanese title “Watashi o Yakyū ni Tsurete tte” (Take Me Out to the Ball Game) directly expresses the protagonist’s feelings in the lyrics.
Mirroring that, the commercial’s version conveys the sentiment, “Let’s ride in the Spacia and go to all kinds of places.” It’s a song that stirs the excitement of going out by car, with lines like “Where should we go next?” and “I’m looking forward to going there today.”
Greatest JourneyHirai Dai

In the commercial “Father and Daughter Car Wash” for the Swift, a compact car with an appealing sporty look, Anna Yamada is shown washing a car.
Yamada is washing an orange Swift, but next to her, her father is washing a blue Swift; the way they playfully argue over which Swift looks cooler is quite heartwarming! The background music features Dai Hirai’s “Greatest Journey,” an upbeat, bright, fast-paced track that perfectly suits a driving soundtrack.

First Human GiatrusZa Gyātoruzu

When it comes to Suzuki’s kei cars, many people probably think of the Hustler.
In the Hustler commercial released in December 2019, the theme song from the nostalgic anime “GyaToruzu” (Hajime Ningen Gyatoruzu) was used.
The video and music perfectly matched the image of the Hustler, which launched in January 2020, and I imagine many viewers couldn’t help but be glued to their screens when the ad aired.
Also noteworthy is that the visuals feature illustrations by Keith Haring, an iconic artist of the 1980s, giving the commercial a fun and poppy feel that’s enjoyable just to look at.
