A roundup of songs from Suzuki commercials: the appeal of friendly J-pop and Western music

Speaking of Suzuki, in addition to popular kei cars like the Spacia, Hustler, and Alto, the lineup is known for being approachable, with models like the Solio—a compact family car that’s also very popular.

Even when you’re watching TV, you often see commercials for these hit models, right?

In this article, we’ll introduce the songs that have been used in commercials for Suzuki’s popular models.

Suzuki’s commercials feature not only popular J-pop, but also many covers of classic hits, and a lot of them are really catchy in their presentation.

More recently, there’s also been an increase in original songs made specifically for the commercials.

All of the songs tend to stick in your head, so you might find yourself thinking, “What’s that song called?”

There are plenty of classics you may have heard even if you didn’t know their names!

SUZUKI Solio Bandit “Shiritori Drive” Version

To The Moonayaka

This commercial showcases the beauty and comfortable ride of the Solio Bandit through a driving scene featuring Kanna Hashimoto and Fuju Kamio.

It highlights the car’s power as it cuts through the rain and its beauty across various landscapes, depicted in step with changes in the shiritori word game.

The song used is Ayaka’s “To The Moon”: its strong rhythm underscores the car’s stable performance, while her soaring vocals emphasize a beauty that shines even in the rain.

B’z’s “Deus,” released in 2019, was featured in the SUZUKI ESCUDO “Uncompromising SUV” commercial.

In the ad, a man in the car looks surprised by its safety features, and then, as if set free, drives exactly the way he wants—this is the impression it gives.

The masculine vibe of B’z’s song fits perfectly and further accentuates the car’s coolness.

The song used is Zedd’s “Beautiful Now,” featuring rapper Jon Bellion.

The dynamic camerawork perfectly matches the way the track builds! Listening to such an exhilarating song while driving through the great outdoors would be absolutely amazing, wouldn’t it?

SUZUKI Baleno: “Feels just right. For the city, and for me.”

My First KissRasmus Faber

You often see the Suzuki Baleno driving around town, don’t you? In this commercial, to portray the Baleno as both emotionally expressive and confidently present in an urban setting, they deliberately filmed “real everyday scenes.” For the CM song, they used “My First Kiss,” an English arrangement of “Hajimete no Chuu,” famous as the theme song of Kiteretsu Daihyakka.

With its jazz-inspired arrangement, it perfectly matches the elegant image of the Baleno.

SUZUKI Spacia Custom

Wiggle WaggleHerbie Hancock

Featured in the Suzuki Spacia Custom commercial.

The intro is crafted to make you imagine a completely different piece of music, but the chorus melody is something almost everyone has probably heard at least once.

This cool, moody track draws you in no matter how many times you listen.

In recent car commercials, there’s been a shift from emphasizing vehicle performance to focusing on the kinds of experiences you can have with the car.

This 2019 commercial for the Spacia Gear is a good example: under the tagline “Shift into a playful gear,” it’s designed to evoke weekend adventures.

The song used in the ad is an arrangement of the soul classic “I Can’t Turn You Loose.” They’ve reworked this universally familiar tune to match the Spacia Gear’s image, expressing a sense of playfulness.

SUZUKI Swift

DIVEB’z

It’s a song included on the double A-side single released by B’z in August 2009, and it was used in a commercial for the Suzuki Swift.

It reached number one on the Oricon charts.
