Suzuki commercial songs roundup: The charm of friendly J‑Pop and Western music (41–50)
Chapter01Yaita Hitomi

The song “Chapter01” by Hitomi Yaida is featured in the Solio commercial, “FLOWER.” Released in 2004 as a double A-side single along with “Marble-iro no Hi,” it pairs Yaida’s refreshing, uplifting melody with her pleasant, soaring high notes.
The lyrics depict a date between lovers, making it a perfect in-car BGM for couples heading out on a drive.
Why not enjoy a lovely date together with this song playing?

A Love Song I Couldn’t SingOda Yūji

Yuji Oda, an actor who also has a long career as a singer, released his third single, “Utaenakatta Love Song,” in 1991.
It became his biggest hit, selling over 570,000 copies.
The song was also used in a commercial for the Cervo Mode, in which Oda himself appeared.
Its distinctly ’90s pop sheen, vivid sound, and catchy melody are wonderful, and it’s a song that really makes you want to sing along—very much in Oda’s style.
The lyrics, which seem to depict the last moments of student life before graduation and what comes after, wrap you in a nostalgic feeling and give you a boost to keep going.
I feel that Oda’s vocal—imbued with a touch of melancholy yet carrying a bright atmosphere—further enhances the song’s appeal.
Oh What a WorldRufus Wainwright

This is the SUZUKI IGNIS commercial titled “No Matter the City in the World,” which aired in 2018.
The IGNIS was selected as a Top 3 finalist for World Urban Car at the 2017 World Car Awards and is said to be one of the cars that suits urban environments best worldwide.
The song used in the commercial is “Oh What A World” by New York–born singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, an homage to the classical masterpiece Boléro.
Its orchestral sound feels urban and matches the image of the IGNIS perfectly.
Take Me Out To The Ball GameFrank Sinatra

Many commercials for the Spacia, a light-height wagon targeted at families, depict scenes of going out together as a family, don’t they? In those ads that portray a fun-filled day, they use a cover of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” made famous by Frank Sinatra.
Compared to the original, it has a much more pop and cheerful feel, and it even features original lyrics, making it the kind of song that lets you imagine a day when you’ve bought this car and are heading out with your family!
Monochrome VenusIkeda Satoshi

Monochrome Venus,” which was featured in an Alto commercial, is the debut song by singer-songwriter Satoshi Ikeda.
Thanks to the commercial airing, it became a hit, including a six-week run on the music show The Best Ten.
In 2008, Acid Black Cherry, the solo project of Janne Da Arc’s yasu, released a cover.
It has the vibe of classic Showa-era pop—nostalgic yet sophisticated.
Ikeda’s clear, sultry vocals paired with the song’s shimmer are wonderful.
It’s a poignant love song about trying to fill loneliness with another romance, yet its sound also fits perfectly for a drive.
Surfin’ USAThe Beach Boys
The lively commercial song that expresses how having a Crosby makes every day fun is sung by the American group The Beach Boys! The dance performed by the actors in the commercial is each person’s own way of showing how much fun they’re having.
It’s a perfect number that fits the commercial’s big theme: “fun!”
Never Stop

Since its first full model change in 20 years in 2018, Suzuki’s compact 4WD Jimny has only continued to grow in popularity.
For the commercial of this model—arguably the most special Jimny in its history—an original song was specially written.
While it’s not unusual for car commercials to use original music, it’s rare to see one with a full title like “Never Stop,” isn’t it? The music vividly captures the Jimny’s rugged power to conquer any rough terrain and its grand, nature-fitting atmosphere—perfectly suited to the Jimny.
