Compilation of Suzuki commercial songs: The appeal of approachable J‑POP and Western music (21–30)
The EntertainerScott Joplin

In this commercial, Tsuyoshi Muro appears playing two roles! He plays the father and, believe it or not, the God of Play.
Matching the active image of the Spacia Gear, the CM is themed around playfulness.
It shows a family enjoying bubble balls, and their sheer fun really stands out.
Muro’s high-energy performance as the God of Play is another highlight.
The background music is “The Entertainer,” a tune almost everyone has heard somewhere.
In fact, it’s a piece with a long history, first published in 1902.
Its lively, fun melody line is distinctive and really lifts your spirits when you listen!
I Can’t Turn You LooseOtis Redding

In recent car commercials, there’s been a shift from emphasizing vehicle performance to focusing on the kinds of experiences you can have with the car.
This 2019 commercial for the Spacia Gear is a good example: under the tagline “Shift into a playful gear,” it’s designed to evoke weekend adventures.
The song used in the ad is an arrangement of the soul classic “I Can’t Turn You Loose.” They’ve reworked this universally familiar tune to match the Spacia Gear’s image, expressing a sense of playfulness.

DIVEB’z

It’s a song included on the double A-side single released by B’z in August 2009, and it was used in a commercial for the Suzuki Swift.
It reached number one on the Oricon charts.
Note that in the version included on the album “MAGIC,” part of the song is cut.
Original song
The Spacia Base commercial, “BASE Has Arrived,” features an original song.
It’s a high-energy track that perfectly matches the ad, which shows the joy of the Spacia Base being delivered.
At first it might sound like a cool rock tune, but with each instrument playfully layering its own sounds, it conveys a sense of fun that goes beyond just being cool.
It’s the perfect BGM to keep the excitement going—from the time you’re getting ready to head out by car all the way through the drive.
Uptown GirlBilly Joel

One artist whose songs you often hear in Japanese commercials and TV programs is American singer-songwriter Billy Joel.
Many people have probably heard Uptown Girl, which was used in this Spacia commercial.
Released in 1983, this song is a classic pop tune that has been covered by many artists.
CenterfoldThe J. Geils Band

A signature song released in 1981 by the American rock band The J.
Geils Band.
In Japan, it’s known under the title “Ochita Tenshi” (“Fallen Angel”).
People from younger generations might not know the band or the song title, but most will probably feel, “I’ve heard this before!” as soon as they hear the distinctive repeating riff in the intro.
The track was used in a commercial for the Alto that starred Becky, right around the time the model had just been revamped.
I think another reason it sounds so familiar is that, besides the Alto, it was also used in beer commercials for Kirin and Suntory.
Boogie RideKubota Toshinobu

It’s a refreshing funk number that feels like you’re sprinting under an endlessly wide blue sky.
Toshinobu Kubota created it with a positive message: “Let’s live gently in a new era.” It has a powerful energy that blows away the stifling mood of everyday life and frees your heart.
The song was released in October 2020.
It was also featured in a Suzuki Escudo commercial, with Kubota himself appearing—a memorable touch.
It’s the perfect track for switching gears or for a weekend drive.
Let the comfortable beat carry you, and you’ll find yourself feeling optimistic, as if your worries never existed.
