Let’s make a hand-spun top that you spin vigorously with your hand, designed with a cute, flower-inspired look.

We’ll use a disposable chopstick as the top’s axle, and wrap long, folded strips of paper around it to form the shape of the top.

Everyone should clearly imagine their favorite flower and think about which colors of paper will best match that flower.

Wrapping the paper tightly is the key to making the whole piece sturdy and ensuring it spins well.

Here’s an idea for a shaved-ice coin bank made from a milk carton.

It’s adorable because a little face pops out when you put a coin in.

Prepare a small milk carton and peel off the outer printed layer so it’s white.

Cut the spout into a mountain shape.

Draw the syrup part with a pen, attach an iridescent (aurora) sheet, and create the slot for inserting coins.

Next, pierce a rotating cardboard piece with a bamboo skewer and fix it inside the milk carton.

Thread the face piece onto the part of the skewer that sticks out of the carton and glue it in place, then decorate the other end with beads.

Attach thick paper around it to hide the skewer, and close the spout to finish.

Let’s make a toy where short straws fall like an hourglass.

First, cut a wire to 40 cm and wrap it around a pencil to make a spring.

Prepare two small paper cups and make a hole in the center of each bottom; thread one cup onto one end of the spring and secure it.

Stretch the spring and thread short, cut pieces of straw onto it.

Then thread and secure the other paper cup on the opposite end.

To prevent the spring from expanding and contracting, bridge two chopsticks between the two cups and glue them in place, and you’re done! Decorate the paper cups and chopsticks with masking tape or stickers to make it cute.

Kaleidoscope in an ice cup

A kaleidoscope where you can enjoy geometric, mysterious shifting patterns.

Let’s make one using an ice cream cup.

First, use nail polish remover to erase the text and images on two ice cream lids.

Next, cut aluminum foil to your preferred length, fold it three times, and shape it into a long, narrow rectangle.

Cut it into shorter pieces, roll each into a tube, and secure with tape.

Make many small tubes and pack them tightly into the ice cream cup with no gaps.

Then put on a lid, sprinkle beads and pieces of translucent origami paper cut into small shapes on top.

Finally, place the second lid over it and tape it in place to finish.

Point it toward the sunlight and spin it to play.

Musical instruments made from empty cans

Let’s have fun making can instruments from empty cans.

Here, we introduce two instruments: an ocarina and another instrument that produces a scale alongside it.

Use an aluminum can for the ocarina and a steel can for the other instrument.

First, here’s how to make the ocarina.

Remove the pull-tab from the can, and tape a slightly thick straw to the mouth opening.

On the side of the can near the mouth opening, use a punch to make five holes spaced 2 centimeters apart.

Make one more hole at the top on the opposite side, and it’s done! For the other instrument, remove the can’s pull-tab and rub the bottom with something hard like a chopstick.

The pitch will change, so adjust it to the notes you want and line them up.

Let’s make a kaleidoscope that shows rainbow colors.

Prepare three mirrors for a kaleidoscope and glue them together into a triangular prism with the mirror sides facing inward.

Place this inside a toilet paper tube, and seal one end with black construction paper that you’ve pierced with numerous holes using a pin.

Seal the other end with black construction paper that has a diffraction (rainbow) film attached at the center.

Finally, decorate the outside of the toilet paper tube with masking tape or similar, and you’re done! It’s very easy, so please give it a try.

It’s not a kaleidoscope with changing patterns, but the rainbow colors are truly beautiful.

Surprising Craft

[Elementary School Craft] Surprise Craft!!!

An unexpected surprise! Here’s a craft project full of excitement that sparks curiosity.

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary envelope, but when you open it—“brrrriip!”—it makes a ripping sound! The method is simple, making it perfect for a summer vacation project.

First, prepare a bag handle, rubber bands, and a ring like the kind used for word-card binders.

Attach rubber bands to both sides of the ring, then tie them to the handle—and you’re done.

Wind the ring up and place it inside the envelope.

Feel free to draw on or decorate the envelope as you like.

The mechanism is that the ring spins when the envelope is opened, creating the sound.

It’s easy, so make a bunch and have fun playing with them!
