HELLO, SOFMAP WORLD

Even inside Sofmap, a retailer that primarily sells personal computers, the store’s original BGM is played.
The song is titled “HELLO, SOFMAP WORLD,” a name that nods to the introductory programming phrase “hello, world,” which reinforces its identity as a PC specialty store.
The lyrics were written by Keisuke Yamakawa, who has worked on numerous anime songs, and the music was composed by Tetsuji Hayashi, known for producing many 1980s pop hits.
Its catchy, memorable melody and uplifting, positive lyrics were in fact created by heavyweights of the kayōkyoku (Japanese pop) world.
Kojima It’s a Happy ‘Cheap’ World!

The in-store background music at Kojima, a major electronics retailer, has also become a hot topic for being “stuck in your head.” The title is “Kojima It’s a Happy ‘YASUI’ World!” It’s a track with a pleasant, march-like melody.
The lyrics repeat the title phrase while highlighting Kojima’s appeal, and they’re engaging thanks to features like double meanings.
The inclusion of children’s chants also helps make it especially memorable.
Spinning Happiness

This song that plays inside Izumiya is often mentioned as one of those in-store BGM tracks that, for some reason, really sticks in your head.
Sung in a children’s choir style, it has a friendly, familiar feel—like a nursery rhyme you’d hear on an educational program on E-Tele.
In the lyrics, the words “shiawase” (happiness) and “kurukuru” (round and round) from the title are repeated many times, and the rhythm and sound are so pleasant that you can’t help but hum along.
By the time you finish shopping at Izumiya, the song will likely be looping in your head.
Welcia theme songWerushia

Here is Welcia’s in-store BGM, which is a direct parody of “Under the Big Chestnut Tree.” When you’re shopping in the store, the music probably slips into your ears without you noticing—but what if it’s a song everyone knows? Your ears will surely perk up, wondering, “What’s the next lyric?” The adorably cute lyrics leave a strong impression and make you want to hum along! If you listen to this song over and over, you might even experience the strange phenomenon of Welcia’s lyrics popping into your head whenever you hear “Under the Big Chestnut Tree.”
Always with my family

Apita and Piago are supermarket chains with stores mainly in the Kanto region.
In both stores, you’ll hear “Always Together with Family.” This piece was produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of their operator, UNY Co., Ltd., and, strictly speaking, it’s not background music but is designated as the “beloved song of Piago and Apita.” The children’s voices give it a light, uplifting feel.
Incidentally, a “beloved song” refers to a tune that is widely cherished.
Perhaps they chose the name from the start with the expectation that it would become well-loved by many.

See you SEIYU

The in-store BGM at Seiyu, a supermarket chain with locations nationwide, is actually quite popular with many people.
With its catchy composition that sounds like it could have charted among 2000s J-pop hits, some listeners might be surprised to learn that this song is an original Seiyu track.
The refreshing female vocals are by Takane Yabuki, who works not only as a singer but also as a voice actress.
The songwriter and composer is Ryo Matsui, the guitarist of the brilliant green, which explains the remarkably high quality—almost unbelievable for supermarket background music!
Tokoton Rhythm

Its Olympic Theme Song is “Tokoton Rhythm,” created for the supermarket and discount store chain operating mainly in the Kanto region centered on Tokyo.
The song highlights the brand’s major appeal to users—being “thoroughly cheap”—conveying both value and a light, breezy feel.
The airy rhythm and sound that match the titular “Tokoton” are also key points, evoking a positive atmosphere.
It’s a track that seems to express the wish for customers to first pick up products and feel the savings, and to keep using the stores going forward.
