Pick-up of famous in-store BGM. A roundup of buzzworthy and catchy tracks (1–10).

BGM that includes the store’s name in the lyrics has a unique charm, doesn’t it? With that in mind, I’d like to introduce the in-store BGM of Jimukichi.
Jimukichi is a supermarket specializing in stationery, with 21 locations nationwide.
Inside the stores, they play music designed to boost customers’ spirits.
Set to an electronic-style sound, the lyrics straightforwardly convey Jimukichi’s low prices and fun atmosphere.
There’s even a rap-like section partway through, making it full of highlights to enjoy.
Yobikomi-kun No. 4

Have you ever heard a high-pitched, poppy melody at Don Quijote or in the fresh food section of a supermarket? That’s the background music played by a product called “Yobikomi-kun,” sold by Gunma Electric Co., Ltd.
Not many people have seen it in person, but it actually looks cute—with a speaker that has a face and little hands.
Next time you hear the tune in a store, try looking for him.
By the way, the melody was composed with the intention of boosting customers’ desire to buy.
Miracle Shopping ~Don Quijote Theme~

Don Quijote is a discount store chain with locations across Japan.
When it comes to famous in-store background music, many people probably think of Donki’s theme song first! The song, which repeats the store name to a catchy rhythm, is a prime example of original in-store BGM.
It was written and performed by Maimi Tanaka, who composed it while working as a full-time employee at Don Quijote alongside her music activities.
By the way, she is currently active as an entrepreneur.
Happy Price Paradise

This is the in-store BGM of Daiso, the pioneer of 100-yen shops.
It features a laid-back female vocal as the main element, with occasional shouts of the store name, “Daiso,” in between.
Looking at online reviews of this BGM, many people say things like, “I didn’t like it at first, but before I knew it I was humming along,” describing an involuntary, addictive quality.
Indeed, after hearing it a few times, it really sticks in your head.
By the way, the voices shouting “Daiso” are said to be those of the staff and employees.
NSC-SC-1903

HARD OFF is a reuse shop that handles all kinds of everyday items such as games, musical instruments, and home appliances.
Since it has locations nationwide, I think many people have visited at least once.
The in-store BGM at HARD OFF is actually a track from the copyright-free Nash Music Library.
Its edgy bassline paired with a synth melody line is striking, creating an atmosphere that perfectly matches the image of discount and reuse shops.
LAMUmizna

La-Mu is a local discount store operated by Daikokuten Bussan Co., Ltd.
Its in-store BGM features an energetic, fast-paced sound with lyrics that sing of hope for the future.
It feels more like a theme song than typical background music.
Some people even say they end up staying in the store just to listen to it.
The song was written and composed by Yuichi Mizusawa and performed by mizuna.
By the way, the BGM can reportedly be downloaded for free from the company’s website.
Original time signal BGM

Nitori is a store that sells furniture and home decor, with locations not only across Japan but around the world.
The background music played in Nitori’s stores feels like it expresses a gentle warmth that stays close to the customer.
Its simplicity—composed solely of light, airy guitar tones—quietly supports the enjoyment of shopping.
It also carries a calm atmosphere, conveying a desire for customers to relax and take their time as they shop from here on.
Don’t lose your passion

“Don’t Lose Your Passion,” which has been playing in Joshin electronics stores and commercials continuously since 1992, has a refreshing feel that’s unusual for a song you’d hear in an electronics retailer—many people probably think, “Hey, this is actually a good song!” It’s sung by a performer named Hirasa Wins, and it’s the kind of track that could get everyone excited in karaoke with a “I know that song!” vibe.
For some reason, visiting a big electronics store always gets you pumped, right? This classic is perfect for boosting your mood and stoking your urge to buy!
