Crafts and toys you can play with (1–10)

Snow globe made from an empty bottle

Many people have probably received or bought snow globes as souvenirs or gifts.

Why not try making one with an empty jar? It’s easier than you think, and the result is beautiful and soothing.

All you need is an empty jar, a melamine sponge, liquid laundry starch (or thick laundry glue), small figurines or similar parts, and some glitter.

You can get them cheaply at a 100-yen shop.

First, attach the melamine sponge to the inside of the jar lid, then glue the figurines or other parts onto the sponge.

Put glitter into the jar itself, add laundry starch and water, mix, and screw on the lid—that’s it!

[DIY] 100-Yen Store Makeover ♡ I Tried Recreating a Disney-Style Doll Furniture Accessory Case [Koujoucho]
Disney-style doll furniture

How about making furniture sized to match your favorite dolls and plushies? It’s a two-in-one idea: furniture that’s perfect as a display spot for your beloved plush (like your bias/oshi), and that actually doubles as a case for storing small items and accessories.

Most of it can be made with materials from 100-yen shops, so plenty of people will probably want to give it a try.

The method is to wrap fabric around polystyrene foam and attach it as the base, so you could use the same materials to create more coordinated pieces—like beds and sofas—for a unified look!

Sea Puppy Coin Bank

[DIY/Resin] Sea Dog Piggy Bank [Craft Band/Free Craft/Summer Vacation Project/Resin] [Original]
Sea Puppy Coin Bank

How about making a piggy bank by crafting the body with kraft tape and using resin on top to create an ocean scene? Kraft tape has become popular among craft lovers recently and can be found at 100-yen shops.

Weave it into a cute dog shape, cut a plastic sheet to match the diameter, and then use resin on the plastic to depict the sea.

The body of the piggy bank doesn’t have to be a dog—you can weave any animal or shape you like.

When working with resin, be sure to ventilate well and wear gloves.

Ocean diorama

[Summer Vacation Craft] Even First Graders Can Do It! Make an Ocean Diorama with 100-Yen Store Supplies 💙
Ocean diorama

Let’s create a colorful, glamorous diorama that captures a joyful ocean scene.

We’ll fill a clear case with various ocean-themed parts, where the key is how you apply color and balance the decorations.

The base materials for the sea and sand are whipped clay; add color to finish each in its own shade.

To ensure the colors hold together well, mix in glue, and consider incorporating glass color sand to add dimension and sparkle.

Once you’ve crafted the colors and shapes of the sea and beach, arrange ocean-inspired motifs to faithfully recreate a miniature seaside world.

Handheld fan made from scrap materials

[Summer Vacation Craft] How to Make a Handheld Fan Using Recycled Materials — Great for Elementary School Science Projects
Handheld fan made from scrap materials

Combine materials around you to make a handheld fan that creates a fun breeze.

Drill a small hole in a popsicle stick and pass a skewer through the center to form the base for the blades.

Prepare a straw to serve as the shaft, then attach a round-cut piece of cardstock and brightly colored origami paper to complete the blade section.

Make a hole in the center of the shaft as well, assemble everything so it spins, thread it through the straw, and insert it into the handle.

Wrap thread around it, pull, and pass it through a bead—the moment you pull, the blades will spin.

With a bit of ingenuity, you can change the look and the strength of the wind and enjoy the freedom of creativity.

It’s an idea that lets you repurpose scrap materials to create a one-of-a-kind project.
