UQ mobile, which operates as a sub-brand of au, has been gaining recognition recently—you’ve probably seen their TV commercials and noticed their stores in shopping malls.

In this article, we’ll be introducing UQ mobile’s commercials.

This is a drama-style commercial depicting a high school daughter and her father.

He holds back from asking whether she made the team in her club, worries when she comes home late, and on exam day feels the urge to say so many things out of concern… It’s a touching portrayal filled with moments where, precisely because she’s his precious daughter, he has so much he wants to say but chooses to swallow his words and quietly watch over her.

The commercial introduces a parent-child discount plan that connects such parents and children.

This is a classic UQUEEN series commercial introducing a great new plan that increases your data allowance while keeping the price the same.

In it, Ryuhei Matsuda, carrying a large cake, stumbles, and Hikari Mitsushima makes a brilliant catch as the cake flies through the air.

Combined with Beethoven’s Symphony No.

9 in D minor, Op.

125 as the background music, the commercial ends up feeling quite grand.

Incidentally, this piece is affectionately known as the “Ninth” and is one of the standard works frequently performed at the end of the year.

At first sight, UQUEEN simply says, “I like it.” As for what this commercial is about, it’s actually introducing a great value plan—the KomiKomi Plan Value—which includes 35GB per month, 10-minute unlimited calls, and a Ponta Pass.

UQ mobile UQ Parent-Child Support Discount: “Three Years by Your Side” series — ‘Everyone’s Tough Questions’ / ‘Until the Chime Rings’ / ‘Useless Time’ / ‘Three Years in Uniform’

Virtual singer Kaf covers Quruli’s classic “Kotoba wa Sankaku Kokoro wa Shikaku.” The casual everyday lives of students are deeply moving. UQ mobile web movie “By Your Side for Three Years” released.

This is a commercial that announces UQ’s Parent-and-Child Support Discount while depicting the everyday lives of high school students.

Four versions of the ad have been released, and each one portrays those unassuming yet irreplaceable moments of daily life.

The visuals are so lovely that just watching them gives you that bittersweet rush of youth, so I really hope not only students but adults will watch them too.

It’s also wonderful how they describe data gigs as the amount of memories.

The BGM features “Kotoba wa Sankaku, Kokoro wa Shikaku,” covered by the virtual singer Kafu.

It’s one of Quruli’s signature songs, with lyrics that invite all kinds of imagined stories.

In the commercial titled “Megumi no Hito,” Kyoko Fukada, Mikako Tabe, and Mei Nagano appear as the UQ Three Sisters wearing happi coats.

The song used is “Megumi no Hito,” which shares its title with the CM.

It was released in 1983 as the first single after Rats & Star changed their name from Chanels.

The track has been covered by many artists, including Kumi Koda and The Ventures, and has been loved by multiple generations for many years.

In the CM, however, it’s not Rats & Star or member Masayuki Suzuki singing.

The lyrics also aren’t the same as the original; they’ve been cleverly rewritten to match the content of the commercial.

The commercial “UQ Mobile with the Family” features the UQ Three Sisters—Kyoko Fukada, Mikako Tabe, and Mei Nagano—along with Gachapin and Mukku playing their parents.

It uses a parody of Wink’s song “Sabishii Nettaigyo,” performed by the duo known for their expressionless idol style active from the late Showa to early Heisei eras.

Released in 1988, the song gained popularity for its distinctive choreography centered around the chorus.

The CM also includes choreography that seems to pay homage to that dance.

Although it’s an early-Heisei track, it remains a timeless number that still feels fresh.

Mikako Tabe and Mei Nagano crack up after flubbing their lines! The “second daughter” makes a long-awaited return in the UQ Three Sisters commercial. UQ mobile’s new TV ad “Film Shoot” and behind-the-scenes footage.

In the UQ Three Sisters series, the middle and youngest sisters—Mikako Tabe and Mei Nagano—appear in the commercial titled “Film Shoot.” The music used in this ad is “UFO” by Pink Lady, a legendary idol duo representing the Showa era, whose name and sound resemble “UQ mobile.” Released in 1977, the song became Pink Lady’s biggest hit, along with its distinctive dance.

In the commercial, the shout at the beginning of the original track has its lyrics changed to “UQ” to match the company name.

Many people who listened to Pink Lady in real time when the song was first released can probably still perform both the dance and the song perfectly!
