UQ mobile “UQ is changing. From 20GB to 33GB” Edition

This commercial, where Gachapin and Mukku announce that “the price stays the same, but the data allowance increases from 20GB to 33GB,” is for UQ mobile’s pricing plan.
It has the vibe of a foreign company’s new product launch presentation, and the plan’s details come across clearly.
UQ mobile: The “Signal-Maxed with a Poker Face” version / the “All-In Bon-Bon” version

This commercial for UQ Mobile, a sub-brand of au, has been getting attention for its decidedly surreal direction.
Titled “People Who Don’t Show It on Their Faces,” the ad features a man delighted that he gets a solid signal even in a crowd and a woman thrilled about the generous data allowance.
The twist is that, although they’re overjoyed on the inside, none of it shows on their faces.
The effect is so surreal and amusing that many viewers find themselves watching it over and over.

UQ mobile New Member Audition: “Great Cashback Festival” Edition

This is a promotional commercial for the Grand Cashback Festival, themed around UQmobile’s new member auditions.
This time, Onyokun—the character from Otoyoku Jikan, a music amusement park—makes an appearance and performs a song.
However, Gachapin interrupts midway and, in a high-handed manner, asks, “What does ‘a good deal’ mean to you?” The spot recreates the feel of a pressure-filled interview, resulting in a strikingly surreal atmosphere.
UQ mobile “Close-up on Smartphones and Faces” VersionKyoko Fukada, Mei Nagano

The commercial “Smartphone & Face Close-Up” features Kyoko Fukada and Mei Nagano, the eldest and youngest of the UQ Three Sisters.
The upbeat dance-music track used in the ad is an original song made for the CM.
Even in the short runtime, the four-on-the-floor beat gets your body moving! The melody blends catchy energy with a cool vibe, making it feel like something that could easily be sold or streamed somewhere.
It’s a number that makes you want to keep riding the beat long after the commercial ends.
UQ mobile’s Superstar Duo: “Scoop” / “In the Taxi” / “Autograph” / “That Matter” / “For Tomorrow’s Article” / “At a Certain TV Station” / “Secret Getaway”

This is a series that depicts the daily lives of Gachapin and Mukku as stars, while also highlighting the various appeals of UQ.
It unfolds like a weekly magazine article that segues into star anecdotes, layering the stars’ worries with introductions to UQ’s features and perks.
Although they are thoroughly disguised with sunglasses and masks, the comedic twist is that their figures give them away.
The pair’s confident narration is striking, and it’s amusing that the introductions of features and perks don’t quite come across clearly.
UQ mobile UQUEEN “Debut” VersionHikari Mitsushima, Ryuhei Matsuda

Hikari Mitsushima and Ryuhei Matsuda appear in UQUEEN’s “Debut” commercial.
The grand piece playing in the CM is an original track made for it.
The classical waltz in 3/4 time perfectly matches the aura of UQUEEN—the queen played by Hikari Mitsushima who lives in a luxurious castle—and immediately captivates the listener.
It evokes the feeling of dancing through the castle featured in the ad.
In the latter half, a chorus joins in, adding operatic elements to enjoy.
It’s the kind of piece that feels too good to be confined to a commercial—like it could blossom into a film with this very cast.
UQ mobile UQUEEN ‘UQ Parent-Child Support Discount: Support Captain’ VersionHikari Mitsushima, Ryuhei Matsuda

This commercial introduces UQ mobile’s great promotional campaigns through events that unfold in the mansion of UQUEEN, played by Hikari Mitsushima.
This time, the story explores the roles of Gachapin and Mukku, who have ended up living there, as they compete with Ryuhei Matsuda for the position of captain of the UQ Parent-Child Support Discount cheer squad.
Seeing Gachapin and Mukku throw themselves wholeheartedly into playing a parent and child—even down to their costumes—makes Hikari Mitsushima and Ryuhei Matsuda burst into laughter, clearly conveying the comedic tone.
