A Trigger Full Of PromisesWalls Of Jericho

A band marked by vomit-inducing screams and high-speed drumming.

Thrash metal-style riffs and masculine screams add depth to their songs.

The tracks hit as one cohesive force, and it’s overwhelming.

The decadent sound also matches the music video extremely well.

ARKONA – Goi, Rode, Goi! (Official)
Goi, Rode, Goi!ARKONA

Arkona is a Russian band that enjoys high popularity in the so-called folk metal genre, which incorporates ethnic and traditional instruments into heavy metal.

Centering its themes on Russian folktales and legends of the Slavic peoples, Arkona is also known as a pagan metal band grounded in the philosophy of paganism.

At the front stands the band’s founder and sole female member, vocalist Masha Scream.

One moment she sings with expansive power, and the next she deftly unleashes a vicious death growl, elevating the band’s distinctive sound to something truly definitive.

They’re well known among fans of more offbeat, frontier-leaning metal, but even listeners unaccustomed to metal sung in languages other than English may find them accessible.

JoeyConcrete Blonde

This song is about falling in love with an alcoholic.

Written by lead singer Johnette Napolitano, it was inspired by Wall of Voodoo’s Marc Moreland, who died of liver failure in 2002.

For a band that showed little interest in hit singles or album sales, it became a major hit.

Sweet JaneCowboy Junkies

Cowboy Junkies already exuded the air of seasoned veterans from the time of their 1986 debut.

They’re a band from Toronto, Canada.

As for Sweet Jane, one of Lou Reed’s signature songs, this is arguably the most ambitious and daring cover version.

Heavy LimbsEmployed To Serve

A track that hooks you from the intro, where a female-specific, piercing scream blends with a devastating riff.

The arrangement, which could easily become monotonous, is made diverse through changes in the chorus and beats.

The vocalist also demonstrates the ability to manipulate multiple vocal timbres.
