Memorable Commercials [2021] (1–10)
BLUE SOULSA_o, ROTH BART BARON, Aina Ji Endo

A song by A_o, a unit formed by AiNA THE END—the main vocalist of BiSH, a punk band that performs without instruments—and Masaya Mifune, who currently serves as vocalist and guitarist for the band ROTH BART BARON, now active as a duo.
Chosen as a commercial song for Pocari Sweat, this track blends a floating, translucent soundscape with AiNA THE END’s naturally husky voice to create a striking number.
Its refreshing yet hooky arrangement is a perfect fit for a soft drink commercial.
The chorus, where their voices overlap, feels delightful, making it a song you’ll find replaying in your head over and over again.
room for growthCreepy Nuts

A track by the hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts, who have transformed hip-hop—once seen as intimidating and hard for novices to approach—into music that feels friendly and easy to listen to.
The song is included on their second major-label album, “Case,” and was also used as the commercial theme for povo, the mobile phone plan introduced by KDDI and Okinawa Cellular in 2021.
Unlike many of Creepy Nuts’ earlier songs that put rapid-fire rapping front and center, this one stands out for its somewhat laid-back, gentle melody and tone.
It’s a catchy number that makes a strong impact even within the limited runtime of a commercial.
Isuzu truckKAZCO

Isuzu Motors’ theme song “Isuzu no Truck” is a tune everyone in Japan has heard at least once.
Despite only having 30 seconds in a commercial slot, the impression it left on people is huge.
It’s said that at first only the chorus used in the commercial existed, but later a full-length version was produced.
It’s a cool classic themed around truck drivers! While it’s best known in the voice of a female singer, since 2018 there have also been versions sung by Aina the End and Yasuharu Otomo.
Thanks to this song, didn’t Isuzu Motors become the most famous truck company in Japan?
TokimekiVaundy

The song playing in Toyota’s Corolla Cross commercial is “Tokimeki” by the hugely popular singer-songwriter Vaundy.
It’s an original track written specifically for this ad.
Vaundy’s vocals immediately grab your attention! Every part of the song is catchy and really sticks in your head.
True to a car commercial, it has a sense of speed that makes you want to listen while driving.
I’ve heard it was written with the idea that it’s “even more fun to listen to together than alone.” It’s a lively track that conveys Vaundy’s enthusiasm!
naporiVaundy

Chocolate is a special presence among sweets, isn’t it? Within the cuteness of “sweets,” it also carries the romantic image of Valentine’s Day.
That sweetness, the way it melts in your mouth, its jewel-like appearance—all of it makes chocolate something special.
Among chocolate treats, “Alfort” is especially popular, and the song “napori,” used in its commercial, is one of singer-songwriter Vaundy’s signature tracks.
“napori” is a warm, romantic song that feels like two hearts melting together with warmth and becoming one.
It’s a perfect match for the image of chocolate!
Little Dancer feat. Ito (PEOPLE 1)WurtS

The song chosen for the commercial “Evolutionary Trajectory” from the TOYOTA Corolla series is Little Dancer by the up-and-coming solo artist WurtS.
Ito from the Tokyo-based band PEOPLE 1 is featured as a guest vocalist.
It’s a lively pop song with a disco beat that naturally lifts your spirits as you listen.
The music video takes the form of a puzzle, featuring an intriguing plot in which a murder occurs within the story.
primary colorsYOASOBI

The hugely popular duo YOASOBI released “Sangenshoku” in July 2021, a song written specifically as the commercial theme for NTT Docomo’s new service, ahamo.
Its lively rhythm, with a touch of exotic flair, is super cool—it’s a fusion of flamenco and J-pop.
To coincide with the launch of ahamo, Yuichiro Komikado wrote a novel titled “RGB.” YOASOBI’s “Sangenshoku” is said to be based on that novel.
The novel is available on a special website, so be sure to check it out together with the song!
