[2026] Bold’s historical commercials: spotlight on the funny series of ads
Last updated:

Bold, a laundry detergent with fabric softener, is very popular.

It used to be well-known for the series featuring Yamada Cameron, a neighborly character.

More recently, the “Laundry Daimyo” series starring Fuma Kikuchi has been drawing attention.

All the commercials are humorous and fun to watch, and many people have probably been curious after seeing them on TV.

In this article, we’ll introduce all the Bold commercials that have aired so far.

Be sure to look out not only for Fuma Kikuchi, but also for the overseas actresses who have repeatedly played Yamada Cameron over the years.

[2026] Bold’s All-Time Commercials: Spotlight on the Funny Series (1–10)

P&G Bold “White Tea” editionFuma Kikuchi, IKKO

Bold Laundry Daimyo: White Tea Edition (30 seconds)

This commercial features Fuma Kikuchi as the “Laundry Lord,” conveying the appeal of Bold through his reactions.

This time, the focus is on a massage scene, depicting a sequence where he’s moved by the scent emanating from a towel.

At the very moment he experiences the fragrance, IKKO enthusiastically chimes in with words of agreement, adding a comedic touch.

From there, the ad clearly explains the reason behind the scent, and because the flow is humorous, it also conveys a desire for viewers to try it casually.

P&G Bold Commercial: 'Laundry Lord - Indoor Drying' 30-second Version

This commercial promotes how Bold Gel Ball solves one of the biggest laundry woes: the musty odor that occurs when drying clothes indoors.

Framed as a scene where the “Laundry Daimyo,” played by Fuma Kikuchi, is briefed on the product, it clearly explains why the odor problem is resolved.

The refreshing scenery in the scene where the daimyo dances also conveys that the smell has been thoroughly eliminated and everything feels fresh.

P&G Bold “Cinderella: The Ball of Noses”

P&G BOLD (Bold) 30-second commercial: Cinderella Nose Ball

When you think of iconic scenes from the fairy tale Cinderella, the beautifully blooming ball probably comes to mind.

But in this Bold commercial, it’s a different kind of “hana”: a “Nose Ball.” While the other women desperately try to make their noses more appealing, Cinderella, who has been diligently doing laundry, encounters a witch and gains a delightful fragrance.

Thanks to that lovely scent, her fate is completely reversed—she wins the prince’s favor and lives happily ever after… or so the story presumably unfolds from here.

It’s a Bold commercial that drags even the world of fairy tales into its orbit, leaving you curious about what comes next—or rather, about this whole “Nose Ball” concept.

The background music is Johann Strauss’s The Blue Danube.

P&G Bold Laundry Daimyo “Fluffy MAX” EditionFuma Kikuchi, Katsumi Koba, Kyoko Hamaguchi

P&G Bold Commercial: “Laundry Daimyo Fluffy MAX” — 30 Seconds

Many people probably find the Bold “Laundry Lord” commercial series highly memorable.

This particular ad aired starting in October 2024 and features Fuma Kikuchi and Katsumi Koba, along with Kyoko Hamaguchi.

Kikuchi is surprised that a towel Hamaguchi says has been washed “30 times” still feels as fluffy as if it were brand-new.

The secret, as the story reveals, is that it’s been washed with Bold.

The commercial also highlights the detergent’s strong cleaning power, which likely made many viewers think, “I want to try it at least once.”

P&G Bold Laundry Prince: “Highest-Level Deodorizing Ingredients” VersionFuma Kikuchi, Katsumi Koba

Bold Laundry Prince: Highest-Level Deodorizing Ingredients Version - Citrus - 30 Seconds

Speaking of Bold commercials, Fuma Kikuchi’s “Laundry Daimyo” series is unforgettable, but we mustn’t overlook the “Laundry Prince” series either! The Laundry Prince’s silky blond hair is iconic, and the look suits Kikuchi perfectly.

In the latest “Highest-Level Deodorizing Ingredients” installment, they highlight powerful deodorizing and antibacterial performance.

P&G Bold Sun Gel Ball “Blue” Version / “Sun Gel Ball” VersionFuma Kikuchi, Katsumi Kiba, Ken Matsudaira

This is a commercial that comically promotes how Sun Gel Balls can solve the musty, damp smell of laundry.

In the “Blue” version, Fuma Kikuchi plays the Laundry Lord, who’s about to give up on hearing direct complaints from the townspeople, when Ken Matsudaira appears and guides them to a solution.

It powerfully and glamorously conveys that the Blue Sun Gel Balls were co-developed with Febreze and eliminate odors.

In the “Sun Gel Balls” version, Ken Matsudaira solves odor problems with a mysterious beam.

His silent resumption of the beam even when asked for an explanation, and Fuma Kikuchi’s screams as the laundry is blasted, heighten the comedic tone.

A version with replaced BGM is currently available, but when the commercial first aired, “Matsuken Samba II” played during Ken Matsudaira’s entrance.

The song was released in 1999, became a huge hit in the 2000s, and has drawn renewed attention in the 2020s.

P&G Bold Laundry Prince: “No Need for Double Washing or Fabric Softener” EditionFuma Kikuchi

Bold Laundry Prince: Highest-Ever Deodorizing Ingredient Edition, 30 seconds

In the Bold commercials, the Laundry Lord series starring Fuma Kikuchi had been the standard, but the new character, the Laundry Prince, is also drawing attention.

The prince, with his flowing, silky blonde hair, looks absolutely perfect in the role.

At the end of the commercial, the Laundry Lord appears and points at the prince, saying just one word: “Who?” It’s a humorous touch to the presentation.
