In addition to local conventional lines across each area, it operates multiple Shinkansen lines, including the Tohoku Shinkansen, Joetsu Shinkansen, and Hokuriku Shinkansen.

JR East TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY Mysterious Gateway “DNA” EditionShinichi Tsutsumi, Ami Toma

The place where Takanawa Gateway City is being built is introduced as the site where, over 150 years ago, Japan’s first railway ran over the sea, and later it was used as a rail yard.
This intriguing history is presented by Shinichi Tsutsumi, with Ami Touma serving as the interviewer.
After explaining the history, Tsutsumi adds a humorous line: “As I was letting my thoughts wander through this history, before I knew it, I’d turned into a train.” Hearing this, Touma also “turns into a train,” saying “choo-choo,” resulting in a commercial with a laid-back, humorous vibe.
JR East TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY Mysterious Gateway “Appearance” Version / “2nd GATE OPEN” VersionShinichi Tsutsumi, Ami Toma


This commercial introduces Takanawa Gateway through a conversation between Ami Toma and Shinichi Tsutsumi, who plays a JR staff member.
In the “Appearance” version, it introduces Takanawa Gateway and mentions that construction is currently underway, while the “2nd GATE OPEN” version highlights the full opening of THE LINKPILLAR 1.
Both commercials have a calm yet slightly humorous tone, and the pleasant dialogue between the two makes them the kind of ads you want to watch again and again.
JR East Adult Holiday Club: Aomori/Oirase (Version)Yutaka Takenouchi

This is an announcement commercial for the Adult Holiday Club, aimed at people aged 50 and over.
It shows Yutaka Takenouchi traveling with his wife in Aomori Prefecture, and not only the scenes but also his monologue together make the trip feel truly wonderful.
It’s a commercial that raises expectations, suggesting there may be joys you can appreciate precisely as an adult.

JR East Japan TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY “Mysterious Gateway: 2nd Gate Open” EditionShinichi Tsutsumi, Ami Toma

Through the scenes of Shinichi Tsutsumi enjoying TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY, it conveys the sense that a better future is drawing near.
In this mysterious gateway, Ami Toma is greeted by an AI version of Tsutsumi, while the real person is enjoying himself beyond the gate—a curious, otherworldly concept.
By depicting various elements, such as the grand, expansive landscapes and the relaxed atmosphere of the bookstore, it also communicates the excitement of wondering what kinds of experiences await.
JR East ‘Enjoy! SixTONES, Enjoy! Shinkansen.’ versionSixTONES

This commercial showcases how JR East’s Tohoku Shinkansen supports enjoyable journeys, as portrayed through SixTONES.
The direction is striking, with a scene moving from underground to above ground where the light comes into view, positively expressing the moment of setting off on a trip.
The sight of the Shinkansen racing through vast landscapes is another highlight, conveying the excitement of departing for new places.
Further heightening that sense of anticipation is SixTONES’ song “Shine with U.” Its brilliant sound and lively vocals leave a strong impression, evoking expansive scenery and a forward-looking feeling.
JR East View Card “Instant Issuance” VersionHidekazu Majima, Anna Yamada

This is an introductory commercial for View Card, the credit card from JR East.
In this ad, they especially highlight how quickly the card can be issued—amazingly, it can be issued in as little as five minutes.
They also mention that you can earn points, clearly conveying how convenient and cost-effective it is.
JR East ‘Now’s the time! Off-Peak Commuter Pass’ versionHayato Sano, Makita Sports

In the commercial, Makita Sports plays a boss with an old-school policy who says, “Work is good when everyone starts together in the morning.” In response, Hayato Sano talks about the appeal of staggered commuting, and ultimately introduces JR’s Off-Peak Commuter Pass.
In a musical style, he pitches that “about 50% of people want staggered work hours, and with fixed start times, employees won’t stick around.” Hearing this, Makita Sports says, “Sounds good,” and the CM wraps up there.
Of course, the ad also clearly points out that the Off-Peak Commuter Pass can be purchased at a better price than a regular commuter pass.
