JR East’s campaign “Ikuzo, Tohoku.” Since 2013, Fumino Kimura has appeared in this commercial series.
The ads show her traveling by train to the Tohoku region and interacting with locals.
In every spot, Kimura’s unpretentious way of engaging with the people there leaves a strong impression.
The song she hums will likely end up lingering in your ears before you know it.
JR East ‘Travel on Weekdays! Kyun♡ Pass’ VersionNarration: Hiro Shimono

This is a promotional commercial for a limited-time ticket that lets you ride unlimited on JR East lines on weekdays.
It introduces a 1-day ticket for 10,000 yen, and a 2-day ticket for 18,000 yen, which is an even better deal.
It’s the kind of ticket that makes you want to plan a relaxed weekday train trip.
The narration by voice actor Hiro Shimono is upbeat and fast-paced, and it really lifts your spirits just listening to it!
JR East Japan Suica Renaissance Vol.1 “teppay” EditionYumi Kawai

Starting with a scene of Yumi Kawai enjoying pancakes and a drink at a café, this is an introductory commercial for teppay, a code payment service that JR East plans to offer.
Teppay is a code payment service usable within the Mobile Suica app.
The commercial mentions that over 110 million Suica cards have been issued, highlighting how convenient code payments using the widely adopted Suica can be.
It also showcases other appealing features of teppay, likely leaving many viewers thinking, “I want to try it when the service launches!”
JR East: “Only this winter is blue.” Preparation chapterJuri Uesaka

This is JR East’s winter staple: the JR SKISKI commercial.
For the 2025–2026 season, Juri Uesaka—who will appear in the morning drama “Kaze, Kaoru,” airing from 2026—has been cast as the heroine.
It portrays the lively excitement of university students planning a ski trip.
The man Uesaka’s character has feelings for usually doesn’t join ski trips, but this time he decides to go, saying it’s “because it’s the last time,” and the way Uesaka’s expression softens when she hears that is particularly memorable.
The catchphrase “A blue winter, just for now” is lovely, isn’t it? The BGM is “winterlust” by Laura day romance.
Written specifically for this commercial, the song’s mid-tempo arrangement and gentle female vocals are a delight to the ears.
JR EAST Takanawa Gateway City: The Mysterious Gateway “City Opening” VersionShinichi Tsutsumi, Ami Toma

This is a commercial announcing that part of Takanawa Gateway City will open in March 2025.
Shinichi Tsutsumi appears as a JR employee and asks Ami Toma, who has just visited Takanawa Gateway City, what she thought of it.
Toma describes it in friendly, down-to-earth terms, saying there were various facilities and it felt “futuristic.” It’s the kind of commercial that piques your curiosity about what the place is like!
JR East TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY Mysterious Gateway “DNA” EditionShinichi Tsutsumi, Ami Toma

The place where Takanawa Gateway City is being built is introduced as the site where, over 150 years ago, Japan’s first railway ran over the sea, and later it was used as a rail yard.
This intriguing history is presented by Shinichi Tsutsumi, with Ami Touma serving as the interviewer.
After explaining the history, Tsutsumi adds a humorous line: “As I was letting my thoughts wander through this history, before I knew it, I’d turned into a train.” Hearing this, Touma also “turns into a train,” saying “choo-choo,” resulting in a commercial with a laid-back, humorous vibe.
JR East TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY Mysterious Gateway “Appearance” Version / “2nd GATE OPEN” VersionShinichi Tsutsumi, Ami Toma


This commercial introduces Takanawa Gateway through a conversation between Ami Toma and Shinichi Tsutsumi, who plays a JR staff member.
In the “Appearance” version, it introduces Takanawa Gateway and mentions that construction is currently underway, while the “2nd GATE OPEN” version highlights the full opening of THE LINKPILLAR 1.
Both commercials have a calm yet slightly humorous tone, and the pleasant dialogue between the two makes them the kind of ads you want to watch again and again.
