Blacklight Performance

April Birthday Party: Staff Performance Part 2
Blacklight Performance

Since it’s for a birthday party performance, how about going a bit flashier than usual and trying a blacklight show? Using blacklights, the illustrations, letters, and dance movements that glow in the dark look wonderfully dreamlike, creating a sense of a different, otherworldly space that should really excite everyone.

If you’re doing a dance, embedding lights in the outfits will make them move with the choreography and look incredibly cool.

With a dazzling, glowing cake, there’s no doubt you’ll hear the children’s delighted cheers!

Parachute (paraballoon) performance

Parachute (paraballoon) performance

Parachute, a sport where a group holds the edge of a large, circular, colorful cloth and spins it or creates various shapes to perform.

It’s also known as a play balloon or play parachute.

It’s popular as an event at kindergarten and nursery school sports days.

To make the parachute look beautiful, there’s a knack to the number of participants relative to the size of the parachute—too many or too few won’t work.

Rhythm Play

“Rhythm play” is play where you move your body to the rhythm.

Any form is fine—for example, when the music is playing you move, and when it stops you freeze; as the rhythm changes, you keep changing your movements.

It’s simple and fun.

When everyone does the same movements together, kids get excited, their movements get bigger and bigger, and it turns into great exercise!

Sketchbook Theater: “Transforming Little Ghost”

[Sketchbook Theater] How to Enjoy, Perform, and Make the Transforming Little Ghost!!
Sketchbook Theater: “Transforming Little Ghost”

We’re going to make a sketchbook story about a ghost whose body turns the color of the food it eats.

It’s easy to make with everyday materials, yet the way the colors keep changing will have kids glued to it! First, cut out the outline of the ghost’s body from black construction paper.

Next, glue it onto a sheet torn from a sketchbook and cut away only the inside of the ghost’s body.

From the back, attach a transparent sheet such as a clear file.

Fold the paper around the transparent sheet inward, except for the ghost’s head area, and glue it into the sketchbook.

Then draw the ghost’s face.

Prepare various colors of construction paper, each small enough to fit inside the ghost, and draw food that matches each color on one side.

You’re done! After showing the drawing of the food, flip the colored paper to the blank side and slide it into the ghost’s body—instantly, the ghost’s body changes color!

Quiz: Who am I?

Three Hints Quiz! ~September Birthday Party~
Quiz: Who am I?

Let’s liven up the birthday party with a “Who am I?” quiz! In “Who am I?”, you give three clues related to the ‘me’ in question.

Everyone thinks based on those clues and guesses the answer.

The ‘me’ doesn’t have to be a person—it can be a thing like food, an animal, or a vehicle.

For example, if the answer is “apple,” you could give clues like: “I am a fruit,” “I am red,” and “I appear in the story of Cinderella.” It’s a good idea to reveal the correct answer as an illustration so everyone can see it!

Let’s enjoy a quiz using two illustrated panels.

Shuffle the panels so the illustrations can’t be seen, then ask the children, “Which one is the ◯◯?” and have them answer.

Start by shuffling once or twice, and gradually increase the number of shuffles.

The fun twist in this idea is that it ends like a magic trick! Even though the panels were supposed to show an orange and an apple, before you know it, they both turn into oranges.

The secret is that you’re performing it by layering the apple illustration on top of the orange!

“The Whirling Juice Shop,” a panel theater show where we make juices kids love.

We add ingredients like strawberries, yogurt, and chocolate to whip up a tasty drink.

It’s fun to watch the colorful, juicer-inspired mechanism spin around, and singing while we wait for it to finish builds excitement—“What kind of juice will it be?” In the end, it turns into a rainbow juice! The kids are sure to be thrilled.
