Godzilla – Title / “Godzilla” / Finale Part 1Ifukube Akira

It’s a masterpiece by Akira Ifukube that has been used consistently as Godzilla’s theme from the first film in 1954 all the way to the latest installments.
If you’re Japanese, you’ve almost certainly heard this melody at least once.
The way the arrangement skillfully employs irregular time signatures to enhance Godzilla’s eeriness—while still making the shifting rhythms feel completely natural—really makes you think, “as expected of the master!” I’d venture that it’s one of the pieces that had a major influence on musicians in what later came to be called progressive rock.
I’ll admit, I’m actually one of those people myself!
UtakokuAdachi Kana

Kana Adachi is a female singer-songwriter known for her gentle, warm voice.
Her cute visuals are also a big part of her popularity.
“Utakoku” is a love song born from the real confessions spoken by 59 high school students on the romance reality show “Kyo, Suki ni Narimashita.” The heartfelt sound of the acoustic guitar and the strings in the chorus are irresistible.
In the final chorus, pay attention to the lyrics that make your heart flutter—words of confession that convey one’s true feelings to avoid regret.
All I Want for Christmas Is YouMariah Carey

It was used in a commercial featuring Cameron Diaz.
It’s a hit song by the global diva Mariah Carey.
Now it has become a Christmas staple around the world.
In Japan, it became a hit as the theme song for the TV drama “29-sai no Christmas” starring Tomoko Yamaguchi.
Mid-summer, you damn fool!Kanda Sayaka

This commercial features Sayaka Kanda’s performance of “Manatsu no Baccyarō,” used in a fresh, summery way.
By humorously recreating the stress of data speed limits, it grabbed everyone’s attention.
The word “Baccyarō” itself is unique and amusing, too.
It’s a song you’ll want to play in the summer to blow your stress away.
Christmas EveYamashita Tatsuro

It’s a commercial with a poignant yet warm touch that leaves a strong impression.
The story features a girl played by Suzu Hirose, who is about to spend Christmas alone when her friends suddenly show up to surprise her.
It’s heartwarming.
The song is Tatsuro Yamashita’s famous Christmas tune, “Christmas Eve.”
Era (Relay Cover)

This is the “Shirato Family Song Relay: ‘Jidai’” commercial, in which SoftBank’s Shirato family takes turns singing Miyuki Nakajima’s classic song “Jidai” like a relay.
Each performer sings a verse and passes it along to the next.
The scenes were filmed in locations the director was particularly attached to, and the result is a beautifully shot commercial.
Created to commemorate the final year of the Heisei era, it reveals a slightly different side of the usually comical and lighthearted Shirato family.

Always keep your dreamsYoshinaga Sayuri

In the commercial featuring Yuriko Yoshinaga, “Itsudemo Yume o (Nationwide),” which showcases the wonderful smiles of SoftBank employees working at stores across Japan, the 1962 duet “Itsudemo Yume o” by Yukio Hashi and Sayuri Yoshinaga is used.
The two singers’ voices are both gentle and flowing, drawing you in as you listen.
The song expresses feelings of admiration for that special girl who’s always singing.
If you want to reminisce about the good old Showa era, be sure to give it a listen.
