When you’re watching TV or browsing the internet, you often come across commercials, and I’m sure many of you have had a song from one of them get stuck in your head.

In this article, we’ll introduce lots of noteworthy CM (commercial) songs—whether it’s a tune you can’t quite name but can’t stop thinking about, or a song you only heard a snippet of in the ad and want to listen to in full.

Along with the latest tracks, there are also cases where songs from the Showa and Heisei eras are being used again today, so reading this article could be your chance to discover a wide range of music! Let’s dive right in!

This striking commercial, featuring a lineup of beloved Tatsunoko Production characters from popular anime like Yatterman, Gatchaman, and The Genie Family, is an ad by the Kanagawa Prefecture Election Administration Committee.

Set to an up-tempo tune, it urges viewers to “go vote,” leaving a powerful impression not just visually but aurally as well.

The song used in the commercial is the Italian canzone ‘Funiculì, Funiculà,’ first published in 1880.

While the CM uses parody lyrics, the original song was reportedly written with Neapolitan lyrics.

In addition to actress Haruka Fukuhara, this commercial features a song called “SHIMATTA” by voice actors Kengo Kawanishi and Konomi Tamura.

In the song, they share relatable stories about times when they let vegetables go bad.

It then recommends using Saran Wrap and Ziploc bags to store food in the freezer to help prevent such food loss.

Although it’s a CM song, it has a very pleasant melody, and Fukuhara’s beautiful singing voice is truly captivating.

This commercial, with its striking visuals that keep rotating left and right, promotes Life Card as a great choice for students.

In the two spots introduced here—“LaLaLaLife” and “Itadakimasu”—Ano performs different original songs, both of which are highly addictive and hard to forget.

The commercial for Marosh gummies sold by Kanro, titled “Believe in What You Love,” is an animated piece notable for its vivid, colorful palette.

The message displayed in the latter half—“Believe in what you love”—really hits home.

The background music features KANA-BOON’s song “Silhouette.” Set to upbeat, classic guitar rock, the lyrics sing about continuing to protect the things that matter inside oneself.

It ties in nicely with the commercial’s message!

In the “Rest” segment, Motoki Omori of Mrs.

GREEN APPLE appears and performs “Que Sera Sera.” He’s doing an acoustic solo under a large tree standing in a grassland, and it makes you envy Mikako Tabe, who’s listening right next to him! The song was released in 2023 and was also chosen as the theme song for the drama “Sunday Night Is About Enough….” It’s a track filled with encouragement that feels like a push on the back, saying, “Things will work out!”

Kagaya, Akari Kito, and Tomoaki Makino are each shown turning what they love into their work, throwing themselves into it wholeheartedly while wrestling with their own struggles.

In the commercial, you can see that all of them feel eye fatigue as they work.

When they use Sante FX, their eye strain is relieved, and at the same time their eyes come alive, transforming their expressions into something vibrant.

Their earnest commitment to what they love is portrayed as truly cool.

The CM features Sakanaction’s “Plateau” as the background music.

Its lyrics, which depict pressing forward even while struggling, are compelling—so be sure to listen while reading the lyrics.

After gazing at the sea for a while, her brother quickly seems to sort out his feelings and exclaims, “I feel refreshed!” Ito, surprised, responds, “That was fast!” The interaction between the caring, sisterly Ito and her airheaded little brother is heartwarming and brings a smile—what a comforting commercial.

The BGM features Yorushika’s ‘Playsick.’ Although detailed information about the song wasn’t available at the time the commercial was released, it’s a gently paced track that suits suis’s vocals very well.
