You can write a message in the opening! Here’s how to fold a cute ribbon card.

Place the origami with the white side facing up.

Fold it using the Kannon fold, then fold both top corners down to the center.

Using the folded corners as a starting point, fold the corners diagonally.

Make a fold about 2.5 cm below the top corner.

Fold the center corner upward.

Fold the bottom edge up to meet the folded corners.

From the edge as the starting point, fold the corners diagonally downward.

Tuck the folded part into the gap.

Fold the center corner just a little, and your ribbon card is complete!

Recommended for decorations! How to fold a ribbon

Here’s an easy way to fold a ribbon from a single sheet of origami paper.

First, fold it in half horizontally, then fold the sides toward the center crease.

Fold it in half vertically, then fold it in half horizontally.

Open one layer and squash it into a triangle; repeat on the other side.

Continue folding while making creases, and when you open both sides, the ribbon’s center will appear like an origami balloon.

Press that center flat, and finally make small cuts with scissors on the left and right to shape it, and you’re done.

It looks like a detailed ribbon, but it’s surprisingly easy to make, so give it a try!

How to fold a cute heart-shaped box

How to fold a cute heart-shaped box

Here’s an idea for making a heart-shaped box using two sheets of origami paper.

First, make precise creases, then form a three-dimensional square tube.

Once you have the tube, indent one pair of opposite sides on one end to create two triangles, and sink-fold the top corners of those triangles.

Make two of these and combine them to form a heart shape.

The creasing step is extremely important, so press the paper firmly with your fingers to set the folds well.

As long as the creases are clean, turning it into a tube won’t be difficult.

A heart within a heart!

Easy origami! A heart with a heart inside
A heart within a heart!

Here’s an introduction to an origami model where a heart sits inside another heart—and it looks super cute.

To make it, first place the origami paper face up with one edge toward you.

Fold it in half, then fold both edges down to meet the edge.

Open it up, and fold the two ends upward so that triangular crease lines are formed.

Fold the front edge twice, aligning it only with the inner creases.

Open it, flip it over, and squash-fold along all the crease lines.

Turn layers as if you’re opening the inside and make firm creases.

Finally, shape it into a heart so a small heart appears in the center—and you’re done!

Cool! A box with a ribbonNEW!

Let’s use two sheets of origami paper to make a cool lidded box with a big ribbon! First, for the box (the side that holds items), fold the entire sheet inward toward the crisscrossed diagonal crease lines, progressively folding everything toward the center.

For the lid, fold it into a triangle twice, open it into a pouch, and fold both sides into squares; then, on the sides where the corners aren’t open, fold small triangles.

Once that’s done, unfold it once, then shape the lid along the crease lines while also forming the ribbon.

Apply glue to any parts that flap or lift to secure them.

Combine it with the box you made first, and you’re done!

Ribbon box with a lidNEW!

This is a lidded ribbon box that makes you want to get creative with the color and pattern of the origami you use.

For the lid, first make X-shaped creases both vertically and diagonally, then collapse it into a square.

Add a small triangular crease to the corner that won’t open, unfold the whole piece, and use the small square formed in the center to create the ribbon and then the entire lid.

For the box, after making creases such as the diagonal X and vertical lines, shape it into a box by folding along the creases.

Try different combinations of colors for the lid and the box as you make it!

Cherry Blossom Medal

How about a cherry blossom–shaped medal made from origami to celebrate school entrance or moving up a grade? Start by making a pentagon with origami paper.

When cutting out the pentagon, you can use a method similar to a mathematical rule to get the shape.

Once you’ve made the pentagon, begin folding the paper.

If you fold it correctly, cherry blossom petals will emerge within the pentagon.

It’s very beautiful and lovely.

After all the folding is done, stick a round sticker in the center.

Finally, attach the ribbon from the back so it can be worn around the neck, and it’s complete.

three-dimensional heart

three-dimensional heart

Let me show you how to fold a three-dimensional heart with a cute, rounded shape.

Prepare one sheet of origami paper.

With the white side facing up, fold it in half, open it, rotate 90 degrees, and fold in half again.

Open it, then fold the top and bottom edges to meet the center crease.

Rotate 90 degrees, and fold the top and bottom toward the center line again.

From here, you’ll be making creases and using those creases to continue folding, so make sure to crease firmly.

If you fold carefully, you’ll end up with an adorable heart that’s puffy and rounded! It’s nice that you can make it without using scissors or glue, too.

How to fold a puffy heart

This is a heart origami that you finish by blowing air into it.

First, fold the origami paper in half.

Once you’ve made the crease, open it up, rotate the paper so the crease runs vertically, fold up the bottom edge about 5 mm, then fold the paper in half, matching the top edge to the bottom.

Next, fold both top corners down to meet the bottom edge to form triangles.

Fold those corners back so they align with the outer edges, crease well, then unfold.

Now fold both corners so their tips meet the starting points of the inner creases.

Fold the top edge corners, which were first folded inward, outward, and tuck them into the gaps of the corners you just folded.

Finally, fold the corners to round the overall shape and you’re done.

Blow air into it to shape it, and the heart is complete.
