Flowers and seasonal motifs (1–10)
Halloween pumpkin

One of the events children look forward to is Halloween.
Among the decorations you often see is the jack-o’-lantern.
You can make one with just a single sheet of origami paper, so give it a try! Prepare one sheet of origami paper and your favorite pen.
The folding method is simple with only a few steps, so make lots and have fun with them.
When you think of a jack-o’-lantern, you might imagine a slightly scary face, but if you draw a cute face with a pen or add adorable stickers, girls will love it too!
cherry blossom

Cherry blossoms bloom beautifully across Japan in spring.
How about making cherry blossom flowers with origami? Prepare five sheets of pink-toned origami paper and use each one to create a petal.
There are many folds to add to create a three-dimensional look, which makes the process a bit intricate, but once you assemble all the petals, you’ll have a truly lovely piece! Glue the petals together, adjust the shape, and it’s done.
It’s also fun to change the paper size to make cherry blossoms in different sizes.
Flowers and Seasonal Motifs (11–20)
Easter egg

Easter is a festival that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
It takes place in spring, and rabbits and eggs are considered its symbols.
Let’s incorporate Easter into our crafts! Here, we introduce how to make a bunny Easter egg using a single sheet of origami paper.
The colored side of the paper becomes the egg portion, so using bright colors or various patterned origami will make it look extra cute.
Make lots of them and line them up as decorations to instantly brighten up your room.
Be sure to try making them together with children!
Hina dolls

Speaking of special events for girls, Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day) comes to mind.
How about making hina dolls with origami? They’re very easy to fold—just five folds and you’re done! First, place the white side of the origami paper facing up and fold the bottom up at about one-third of the way.
Rotate the paper so that the folded section is on the right, then fold the bottom up the same way.
Once folded, reposition the paper so the white diamond-shaped area is at the top, and turn it over.
Fold the bottom corner up to meet the center, then fold the upper left and right edges inward by about 1 mm, and you’re finished! The white part will be the doll’s face, so draw the hair and facial features to complete it.
wind chime

Let’s make wind chimes, a classic symbol of summer, to bring a cool breeze to the hot season! Prepare two sheets of origami paper.
Fold one sheet into a square twice, then cut it with scissors so that it forms a leaf-like shape.
When you unfold it, it will look like a flower with four petals.
Attach two strings there—one for hanging and one to connect the paper strip—and gently gather the petal-like parts toward the center to give it a three-dimensional shape.
Cut the second sheet of origami in half.
Fold one of those halves in two, place the string that’s connected to the top of the wind chime inside, and glue it together to finish! Have fun making it with chic Japanese-patterned origami or paper featuring your favorite characters.
Tulip

Let’s make tulips that bloom in colorful shades! Get some origami paper in your favorite colors and first fold it into a triangle.
Fold both ends upward, then fold in the tip to hide it, and the tulip flower is done.
For the leaves, take green origami paper, fold it into a triangle twice, then fold both ends downward toward the center.
Fold the whole piece in half from bottom to top, open it out to the left and right, and the leaves are complete.
Finally, glue the flower and leaves together, and you’re all set! Try making tulips in lots of different colors.
paper flower cutting
All the spring flowers are here! How about enjoying some paper-cut flower crafts? This activity is perfect for children who have gotten good at using scissors.
By changing how you fold and cut, you can make all kinds of flowers like moss phlox, pansies, and fleabane.
It would be lovely to create the spring flowers the kids discover on a walk, too.
You can almost see their excitement as they work: “What happens if I cut here?” “What shape will it be when I open it?” Make lots of spring flowers and enjoy the feeling of the season!
