Tag and Chase Play Ideas (1–10)
Rock-paper-scissors tail tag

Even a regular game of tag is fun, but adding a twist makes it even more interesting.
This “Rock-Paper-Scissors Tail Tag” involves more exercise than you’d think.
It’s a great activity for PE classes and also works well as a recreational game.
The rules are simple: first, face each other and run toward one another; when you meet, play rock-paper-scissors.
The winner runs back to their original side.
The loser chases the winner’s tail as they run back.
If the chaser grabs the tail, they win; if not, the runner wins.
It’s also a recommended game for fostering team spirit in pairs or team matches.

This is a game for five players.
Four players line up in a row facing the tagger.
The tagger tries to touch the person at the back of the line, while the four players work together to prevent it.
If the tagger manages to touch the back person within the time limit, or breaks the line apart, the tagger wins; if the four manage to prevent it, they win.
Players need to read the opponent’s movements and react accordingly.

The Mouse team members try to slip through the gaps and escape from inside the circle.

Gather to the island

A fun twist on tag: a recommended game called “Gather on the Islands.” In this game, the runners try to reach islands marked within the court while escaping from the taggers.
If a child enters an island and starts a 10-second count, any other children who make it onto the island before the count ends score points.
Taggers cannot enter islands, so try to tag incoming runners to put them out.
When the count finishes, the runners set off again toward another island.
Players who are out can rejoin the game by entering the revival zone located outside the court.
A good balance is about six runners to two taggers.
