Tag and chase play ideas (11–20)
Tail tag

First, attach tails in advance.
Also, prepare spare tails in the center of the court.
Once the game starts, try to take each other’s tails.
If your tail gets taken, attach a spare tail and keep playing.
The winner is the person who collects the most tails within the time limit.
In this game, getting your tail taken doesn’t mean game over, so a key point is that everyone can enjoy it until the end of the time limit.
Tag (or Tag, holding hands)

In “Tetsunagi Oni” (Hand-holding Tag), the taggers hold hands and chase the children.
The taggers keep holding hands as they run after the others, and the line of taggers gradually spreads wider and wider.
As the number of taggers increases, the game becomes very thrilling for those being chased.
Figuring out how to escape from the growing line of taggers is the key, isn’t it? Try coming up with lots of clever ways not to get caught!
Spider Ogre

This is a game of tag played on all fours.
The “it” crawls on all fours to chase the children.
The children escape by moving on their backs in a crab-walk position.
When someone is tagged, you can switch who’s “it,” or it might be fun to have the number of “its” gradually increase.
Reversi Tag

This is “Reversi Tag,” a game that combines Reversi and tag.
Place many double-sided mats with different colors on each side inside the court.
At the start signal, flip the mats to your team’s color.
If you get tagged by the opposing team, you must return once to the safety zone at the edge of the court.
Flip as many as you can, as quickly as you can, without getting tagged!
Cross Demon

There are many kinds of tag, but this one is a version played inside a court called “Cross Tag.” Draw lines in the middle of a 6-by-6-meter square court to make a cross, both vertically and horizontally.
One or two players are It, and the other players run within the court to avoid being caught.
The It players may only move along the cross.
The runners must keep circling in a single direction to escape; they are not allowed to change direction.
Stepping on the cross, which is the It players’ territory, is out, and of course being tagged is also out.
Anyone who is out should leave the court.
